24hr Blood Pressure Monitoring and Tilt Table Test

I had to wear a 24 hour blood pressure monitor and have another tilt table test in London, ordered for me by the University College London Hospital (UCLH). I'm a bit confused about the difference between the National Hospital of Neurology and Neuroscience (NHNN) and the Institute of Neurology, one was on Queen's Square, the day centre for the other was on Great Ormond Street, but the buildings linked up somehow (it involved going up and down lifts and going past a spooky old hospital chapel)
Looking back on this i can't believe how well I was, doing a brisk 3 minute walk without batting an eyelid! Hopefully I will again be a lot healthier this summer. I want to stress that I wasn't forced to do anything I wasn't able to. All the staff who looked after me on those 2 days were great. After the tilt table test I asked for wheelchair to get me back to the NHNN day centre and I rested in one of the recliners until I was well enough to make the journey home. The other huge help was that the NHS paid for my mum and I to stay in a hotel for 2 nights.

I'm so glad you were seen at NHNN, they're fantastic! I believe that NHNN rent rooms (or at least share rooms) with the Royal London Hospital for Integrated Medicine (linked with GOSH). My migraine appointments used to be in the original NHNN building and are now in the Royal London part. I've been to both sides to see my PoTS consultant, so don't worry if you end up all in different places for the same consultant. Xx

great to see this video, you give great information with whats going on, got my tilt test coming up this monday looking forward to it as i have been ill for so long and just want an answer, im so tired all the time they think i have CFS aswell. ive not had a 24 hour bp machine but i have had a week ECG and a 24 hour ECG, it be down to the hospital whether they want to issue me for a 24 hour bp test. I hope to be making one big whole video on this very soon i hope you will be able to check it out :D

OhSnapItsAbi I will definitely check it out, sounds good. I didn't have a week long ECG ever, but if they hadn't diagnosed POTS, I would have asked the hospital for one (because I was told I should) hope your tilt test went well.

tilt test was definitely an experience but unfortunately they need me to do another one, all will be explained in my video, hope to film it tomorrow :)

This was so interesting. I have m.e. And suspect I have POTS also but I don't know how to go about getting a tilt table test and I'm scared that my family will think I'm just looking for another diagnosis and I'm a hypochondriac! X

If you go to the POTS page on patient.org there's a section on associated conditions where it says its estimated that 1/3 of people with CFS has POTS. That should convince them it's worth investigating! Have you watched my video called "Postural Orthostatic Tachycardia Syndrome Diagnosis & ME/CFS"? And have you noticed a high heart rate when you're standing up? It was my GP who referred me for a tilt test first. Hope this helps x
