@jdslipknot I honestly think the hatchback will have a full GT version with Elantra N powertrain. I don't think KIA wants to step on the Elantra N toes with another performance sedan. And since it's no hatchback version of the Elantra, it makes sense that KIA will make their hatchback a performance one to compete more with the GR Corolla and Civic Type R.

@jeffrey-r8o That's what I noticed about Hyundai/Kia cars. They don't really share all the same features across the board. Right now, there's a hybrid version of Elantra. KIA could've made a hybrid version of the K4. But I guess they want the Elantra to shine in hybrid sales. However, there's an EV version of the K4 called the EV4 that will be released next year. Currently, there is no EV compact sedan version of Elantra as of yet.

We've had two Hondas, a 2019 Ridgeline and a 2019 Clarity. The Ridgeline had innumerable issues, and the Clarity also failed to impress. Honda's reliability reputation is highly overstated. I'd just go for the K4.

The K4 EX without options is $23,990, while the base LX Civic is $24,250. It's like I love Honda cars and we still have a sweet 2015 EX-L couple that I love and will hold onto as long as possible, but I don't love them enough to spend more on them and miss some features all its competitors offer.

I'd go with the Kia because Honduhs are so ugly inside and out - that shrunken Accord look does not look good at all - and that hideous paint color on this tester - egads that is awful. I have friends with 10 year old Kias and no issues at all. Those black wheels ruin the look and exacerbate the ugly color.

They're both awesome cars in their own way, and just depends what you want. I felt it was a fair comparison in that they're very close. Civic will be more reliable and more fun to drive imo, but it is also the most expensive model in a segment where shoppers are extremely price elastic and a few hundred dollars likely can sway their decision. I know the trims compared were the mid-trim models, but even a CIvic LX costs more than this Kia K4 EX. I just feel the K4 is a better value for your money given the features, the technology, and the price. If you want a car that'll likely last longer, is more fun, and are willing to pay for that, then Civic. You can't go wrong with either, just depends how price elastic you are and how long you intend to keep your car.

Having been a passenger in both of these vehicles the past week, I will say, the Kia K4 easily won hands down. I was in test drive. The K4 was much more comfortable the Civic. The seat was comfy for cloth. The interior looked nice and more modern. The exterior looked nice. The road noise was significantly less than the Civic Sport. The K4 had lights on the front door handes! So nice! The passenger seat in the K4 has height adjustment. The fit in finish on the K4 LXS had a nice fit and finish to it, for a compact car. The Honda seemed hard plastic fantastic. The display on the K4 is nice! Reminds me of the Kona. I will say, I would prefer a round steering wheel on the K4 though. Honestly, I would just go with the K4!

I bought a KIA Sportage Hybrid 2023, Issues: A/C (2 weeks waiting for the part and one week at the dealership) and a brakes problem (2 weeks at the dealership) But the WORST is how much I pay and today’s resell price. Kia depreciation is a real concern. I just got a Honda Pilot and I’ll trade the Sportage for a Honda Civic N/A to compense the loss with the time.

Difference in price - what I found is often overlooked is - first it actually is the spread plus tax (12% here so no little matter) - but more importantly the argument for "residual payback" is like putting money down in a lease - if something happens to that car it was all for not, including if the residual was under estimated and you ended up buying more car (because it is like the weather and more a forecast) - also that "future bonus" is *in the brands pocket and not yours,* so you are unable to use it for the time you own the car - either you are paying interest on it during that whatever term say 5 years OR you have lost certainly 4% to 8% investment potential conservatively during that "wait".

My partner and I wanted a built in rental car in our fleet for road trips as none of our other pre-existing vehicles were ones we wanted to put substantial miles on. As much as I love Honda, the new K4 won me over on the test drive. The design, technology, and interior just felt a class above, for less money, with a strong warranty. We are about 2 weeks and 1500 miles in and love it more and more.

Yes, but honda needs to step it up on some of the amenities in their cars. Things like rear seat vents , standard wireless carplay,.A better infotainment system with better resolution on their cameras, overall they have outdated interiors. They can only live on their reputation for quality (which has been on the decline ) for so long before they lose market share. Plus only making CVT is annoying , but that seems to be where we are headed. I would rather get a VW GTI I don't commute too far so the extra 10 MPG doesn't mean that much to me.

About 4 years ago MAZDA took out the independent rear suspension in the Mazda 3. Put in an old fashioned TWIST BEAM. Said it was just fine. And on the new k4. If you go GT LINE and get the TURBO, that car will come with independent rear suspension.

My 2017 Elantra has this same engin that's in this k4. I bought it new. I just sold it at 105.000 miles The engine still ran like new. And used no oil at all between oil changes. In fact it was the most reliable car I've ever owned. I'm 65, and have bought 8 brand new cars. This Elantra required 0 REPAIRS, and had 0 issues. Even the brake pads were original, and still didn't need replacement. Tires, 2 batteries, and windshield wiper blades was all I ever did to it. 😊

I'm an ardent Honda fan, but IMHO, they need to work on two key areas; Transmission tuning (CVT) and NOISE reduction! I'm beginning to wonder if Honda puts ANY sound deadening materials in their lower to medium trims. KIA tuned the CVT to act and sound more like a conventional tranny---no incessant droning like in the Civic. And it's evidently much quieter. These two things greatly impact the drivability and enjoyment of a vehicle, and Honda is sub-par in both. If I were choosing one, I'd take the KIA hands down. And oh yeah, the warranties aren't even close! Kia wins again, Sorry Honda, you lost me...for now.

Civic hands down, it’s rated #1 in its class for a reason. That’s not to say that the Kia is bad but it’s not the Civic. Edit: Kia fanboys, go away! Civic is superior to this K4 in several ways, resale value, reliability, quality, available hybrid, etc. The Civic is outselling the cheaper Forte by almost 2-1 and I’d expect the same for this.
