Decades ago, my father worked on government projects for Eastman Kodak. On one project, the engineers wanted to make perfectly formed shock mounts our of polyurethane foam. They tried razor blades, straight razors, scissors, basically anything sharp but they couldn't get the results that they wanted. My father was a mechanical technician. They came and ask him if he had any ideas. He thought about it for a few minutes then asked how many they wanted. It was like six or eight to start with. He said that he would be back in an hour. He went over to a business that sold cryogenic gases and bought some liquid nitrogen at --320F. He poured some into a Pyrex baking pan, dipped the sheet of poly into the nitrogen and weighted it down and let it set for 5 minutes. Then he pulled it out, carried it over to a drill press and proceeded to use a hole saw to cut out perfectly round, center drilled poly shock mounts. After they thawed, he took them back to the engineers. They were dumbfounded to say the least. They asked him how he did it. He told them that he used a drill press and a hole saw. Just to mess with them, he left out the part about the liquid nitrogen for a few minutes though. Knowing my father, I could just hear this conversation: Eng: Don, how did you do that??? Dad: I put a hole saw in a drill press and drilled them out. Eng: Naw, bullshit. We tried that. It failed miserably. Made a mess. HOW! Dad: I'm serious. I used a drill press and a hole saw. Eng: C'mon, fun is fun now how did you do it? Did you buy them? Dad: I'm telling you , I went into my shop, set up the drill press and cut them out. Wanna bet $50.00? (Walking into the shop, dad picks up the Dewar flask and pours some nitrogen in the Pyrex pan.) Jaws drop. He didn't collect the $50.00 either. He was too honest. I don't know if he got any kind of recognition other than a few pats on the back but he generally didn't look for them.

I have seen a ton of these type of videos and this is the best one by a large margin... Almost every idea is practical and although some require some fabricating, they are still brilliant ideas! I am definitely making the drill press fixture for the angle grinder.

Was für ein Bastler. Bastelt sich einen lotterigen Engländer (Rohrzange) welche man für wenig Geld in viel besserer Qualität kaufen kann. Den Vogel abgeschossen hat er aber mit dem selber gebastelten Kabelschuh und der entsprechenden Verpressung. Muss sich dann nicht wundern, wenn ihm die Hütte abfackelt.
