Day 465. I cannot believe that I use to operate hungover all the time. There’s nothing worse than being hungover at work and then having alcohol withdrawals at the same time.

Sobriety is like a broken leg. It needs time to heal. It doesn't need entertainment, a walk, a jog and certainly NO RUNNING. This is the time you need, you owe it to yourself. The relationship with yourself is the most important one. It's the only one that you'll have EVERY DAY. This is the time to work on your physical health, your mental health, new hobbies, exercise, diet, maybe some therapy, skies the limit. When you're ready to do more you'll know. Just don't jeopardize your sobriety! Comment often when you watch other videos. I will respond when I can. 38 days sober, I used to be so numb to my emotions while using alcohol. And the biggest thing I’ve noticed so far, is how intensely i feel my emotions now. My body also isnt in as much casual pain as it used to be, my back would hurt all the time. And im slowly coming out of the brain fog, its still pretty bad along with the dissociation, but ive noticed im able to carry out thoughts just little better. My mother was/is a alcoholic when i was growing up and it was normalized around me and also pushed on me. So ive been drinking on and off since probably 13 years old. Im 23 now. The biggest reason why i am able to begin my sobriety journey is because i started to heal from my trauma, and finally being in a healthy situation in a healthy relationship with someone who holds me accountable and gives me all the support i could ever ask for, keeps me going and pushing. You have to have a good enough reason why to stop drinking to actually get yourself to stop, and everyones reason is different. Im thankful that ive found my reason while im still young and able to make changes before things got TOO extreme.

One of the benefits of quiting alcohol is you create a positive butterfly effect. I mentioned this in one of the other episodes but to explain it further its when one small change results in many huge differences down the road. In this case positive differences such as. Your health improves in a big way, your family benefits, your financial state could drastically change for the better. Everything in your life gets better when you quit drinking. You've created a butterfly effect. And you can plan all kinds of butterfly effects in your life by doing things like, going back to school, volunteering in the community, giving music lessons to children. The possibilities are endless you just have to use your imagination. When you get sober you free your minds imagination. 😌

Thank you my friend. Thanks for your reply just the other day too. Love that “butterfly effect”. People may not truly grasp the exponential nature of this. But it is mind boggling if we rid ourselves of alcohol. Of course, for entertainment you could actually watch the movie “ The butterfly effect “ which I also liked way back. The movies sub quote is, “ Change one thing, Change everything………..”. I love that. All the best. Talk to you again.

Been sober for 80+ days. i am living my best life in close to 30 years of drinking every day. everything in this video is truth, thank god ive found your channel. god bless! the dizziness issue came up with me, and it turned out to be a loss of thiamine levels relating to an imbalance of blood sugar. Today 10/30/23 my “sobering “ wake up call with new symptoms and feeling like something bad is going to happen soon, decided I’d rather be fishing than having a stroke. Today is day one. I decided to quit drinking for a week. A week became a month and now has become 2 years. Motivation? Positive benefits. No one will ever regret giving up alcohol. It doesn’t really taste that good and it puts a negative spin on almost every person I have ever known. If someone wanted to claim that alcohol tastes great, how long would you drink it as much as you do now if the alcohol was removed. Suddenly a case of beer probably doesn’t sound so tasty. Truthfully after the first 6 months I could see the sudden difference in anyone’s personality after they even had one drink. Even the most good hearted person in the world will find a method to become an ass with enough alcohol... And frankly, it’s never a bonus. I don’t miss it, rarely ever think about it, and have lost interest in a lot of former friends and activities associated with drinking. If friendship and activities are requiring a bar, they’re we were the 1st things to fade away. Im loving life without. Literally

I drank a fifteen pack A day during the week and a flat per day on weekends. It was absolutely disgusting behaviour. I’m on day three without it and it actually went ok. I have never heard anyone present the self sabotage loop in a more understandable way! I think I just didn’t know how to get out of the loop. When deciding to accomplish something (anything, I love how you even throw “make bed” as an accomplishment), VS drinking, that really is the moment to “break in.” Then just do it again for the next task until self worth improves via the achievements (instead of the white claw cans) that pile up. It’s so true: drinking alcohol leads to NOT accomplishing things, creating emptiness, leading to depression, and causing anxiety about the future… that leads to more drinking. Eloquently stated. Today, thanks to you, I wasn’t the mom who opened the next bottle of wine while I looked depressed and overwhelmed at the huge stack of laundry, the lunches to pack, the kids to feed, the obligations I haven’t yet started… only to wake up tomorrow as my future self with all the same problems and more. Today, I was the mom who started those tasks one at a time with sobriety, got them all done, and my tomorrow self is going to be so proud. (I did resist the urge to open the wine to celebrate my accomplishments - which clearly speaks to the work I have to do. But one thing at a time! Thank you!)

You are practicing, and it gets easier. Remember how hard it was to take your training wheels off, or to tie your shoes, or divide and multiply? This is just another thing to learn, get used to, and apply to your daily life. You deserve happy children and they deserve a happy and healthy mom. Make this your motto moving forward: I will EARN my sleep No more running away, no more avoiding, no more hiding. Naps are ok. but most of all, do what you need to do to reduce your daily stress. Maybe do more frequent laundry loads, instead of waiting until it's overwhelming. Another motto I'm a big fan of is: Just do it now There's no sense in putting things off, that's also just "tasking it to future you". You ARE future you. Be on the same team. Be able to count on yourself. Be the change you wish to see! Click here to watch our NEWEST videos on sobriety! kzbin.info/aero/PLddHUddS-QQjIYyRNl-E3bkOiEWWIZtEt

But the first few days and weeks? Yea im counting every second! When I'm home and think about it i also make myself do pushups. Take care!

I started alternate day fasting (46/2-40/8) a month ago. I was drinking on my eating days the first two weeks. One night, with one drink I had gotten a severe headache. Tried again 2 days later on my eating day and another severe headache. What a blessing that was! It’s been 14 days since that last drink and I have no desire to have another drink. I’m continuing the alternate day fasting for the autophagy benefits and cleaning out the toxins built up in my body from all the years of drinking.🥰

The ability to recognize the positive outcome from staying sober is rewarding itself. I started with trying this sobriety for 1 months and that right there was rewarding to me so I did not want to break my streak and now I am 1 year and 1 month no alcohol streak. Loving every moment of this. It has helped me stay accountable for other things I’ve wanted to try as well such as , no coffee, no soda, no sweets for 30 days. Now I’m on this staying accountable and waking up in the early morning to workout. Oh and I’m also staying accountable and not coloring my hair. Sounds silly but be always colored my hair and with turning 40 this year I want to see my natural color. There is just so many benefits so anyone who wants to try this start small.. set yourself a short amount of time and then just keep going once you reach that streak mark. Thanks for this video and everything you’re saying is totally true. I have felt the same positive results. I feel healthy and my skin is amazing. If you don’t do drugs or smoke, why put poison alcohol in your system.

Congratulations on your 90 days of not drinking. I quit drinking several decades ago and for the first couple of years took things one day at a time, that definitely works. So does searching out some help, in my case that was AA, it's really tough to obtain healthy sobriety on your own, there's so much going on besides just the drinking. If you continue down the path of sobriety you'll be able to look back and know that this was the greatest gift you could give yourself, to stop drinking. Life is so beautiful sober. Believe it.

Hi Jae, This is by far the most informative and helpful vlogs on quitting alcohol I have seen and I have seen loads! I quit for 3 months after 20 yrs of drinking 2-3 gasses of wine daily. I was surprised that the only improvement was better sleep and slight mental clarity improvement ..... or was it? I was unaware of the things quitting, had helped, and had not put down to alcohol consumption. IE as you mentioned, itchy skin and spots, mucus and coughing in the morning, dizziness aching muscles. What really hit home was the time it takes to see positive results. I expected 20yrs of drinking a 2-3 glasses of wine every single day to be completely reversed in 3 months! I am in my first month of quitting again and this time I am determined to succeed as I feel I am now in the right frame of mind and knowledge, through your documented experiences. I want to do it rather than I should do it. The main reason is that I always feel head pressure and dizziness, and I now realise, and expect will maybe take a few years to reduce, and now after watching this I have renewed determination. Thanks so much for you inspiration and sharing your experience with us all. xx

Sobriety is the best, and though I often thought that I was sober when I was drinking, like between bouts of drinking, I don’t think I really was. There was always a longing for alcohol and a kind of treading water between drinking sessions, not real sobriety. Waking up after a deeply restful night’s sleep is only the tip of the sobriety iceberg. Good luck to everyone starting an alcohol free life.

Hi Jae!!! On day 9. Its going good. Painted the shed today and it was really sunny and warm. Said to the wife, you know if there was a good day for a nice cold beer this is it. She was like oh no lol but I was fine. I found that mental preparedness is helping this time. Before when it was sunny and warm that was my excuse to hit the beer store but I found that if I'm mindful of nature like sound of the birds and bugs, and maybe the bikini next door lol just kidding, it feels really good to experience these things sober. I have a lot more energy also to get things done around the yard because I've been able to put the dope away too. I was using as a crutch if the acohol cravings got too much but I haven't needed this time. Really starting to feel better. Like you said though I do have bouts of depression too and I think that's par for the course. And I found meditation helps alot with that. That's about all I got today. Day 27 and feeling so good so far
@w115jjm
@w115jjm Жыл бұрын
I’m on day 69 today without alcohol. I’m 41 and started drinking daily in the last 10 years. Before that I was a “weekend warrior”. What resonated with me was Jae’s clarification on reasonable expectations when quitting drinking. I guess I assumed I would regain the energy and stamina of my 20s and it would happen within the first 40 days. Well, not so much, but my back pain has almost completely gone away and lost 10 pounds in the first 3 weeks, but plateaued after that. I would agree that this time right now, days (60-90) has its own challenges like not seeing much improvement during this time yet getting cravings more often than a couple weeks earlier. I’ll push through to 90 and see what I’m able to achieve next.

A few words hmmmm.... OK! How about: 1. create a checklist of all of your enemies to your sobriety such as people, places, things, activities. What stresses you out? Who encourages you to make worse decisions. How do you deal with boredom and anxiety? What places trigger you drink? What Activities? What routines? Complete the list, repost it here, and I'll know you're taking this seriously Manab! You have 24 hours to complete this challenge for your next instruction =) Btw have you subscribed yet? You'll search the rest of your life for a sober content creator to get back to you this in depth. Use this opportunity wisely.

@@manabj How much are you spending on alcohol and alcohol related expenses? How much time do you waste drinking, being drunk and being hungover? What do you stand to gain from a life without alcohol? What do you stand to lose if you continue on your current trajectory? Unless you're willing to ask and truthfully answer these kinds of bigger questions, you will continue to hide from the truth and keep yourself willfully blind. From all of humanity: Don't be that person. As far as I know, this is the only existence we get to be human with free will and the ability to experience emotions, love, struggles and overcoming those struggles and making them into successes. May 1st. Taper down slowly. Get there safely. Fill your schedule, create lists of to-do's, consider other healthy associations with quitting alcohol such as going to the gym and or going to therapy or counseling. Consider recruiting a sober buddy to do it with you for at least the first week or two. Science tells us that neurons that fire together wire together. It's vitally important to have other and new positive associations to cohabitate with your newfound sobriety. Start a project. Work on maintaining your home, your health, your happiness. And most of all, don't forget to rest. You wouldn't run your car at 8000 RPMs 24 hours a day, so don't do that to your body. Schedule. Time to lay down, take naps, go to bed early if you have to, but treat yourself with kindness. A fun exercise to do is that after the first week of sobriety add up all of the money that you would have spent on alcohol, shitty food, lyfts and Ubers, door charges at night clubs, parking tickets, other drugs are stimulus that may have gone with the alcohol and turn that into a realistic number which is what I refer to as alcohol and alcohol related expenses. After the first week, use that money to treat yourself to something. A new gadget, a dinner, a massage, a subscription, a down payment for something, a hotel, whatever.... So again I'll ask you, are you even subscribed? Take care 😂
