For those who asked, here is the transcript of my daily prayer 🙏: Dear heavenly Father, hear my prayers. Lord Father I come to you today in Jesus name. Thanking you for everything that I have and thank you for everything that I am. Thank you for giving me this opportunity to be awake and to be alive and to have another opportunity to make better decisions instead of worst decisions. Thank you for my comfortable home, thank you for my comfortable bed, thank you for my comfortable bed sheets. Thank you for the quality of rest that I got last night. Thank you for all the great decisions that I made yesterday and forgive me for the times that I wasn't my best and help give me the strength and the courage and the motivation and the inspiration to do better today than I did yesterday. I pray that YOU Lord have all the tools that you need at your disposal and I pray that you have a wonderful day today. I pray that you have all of the resources that you need to make every miracle happen and to answer every prayer. I know that people are praying to you because they have to, because they need to, but I pray Lord that more people are praying to you because they want to. And I know that and in these end times that it may seem taboo to speak your name. To be more in tune with your name. But I thank you for the opportunity to spread a little bit more light in the world and to help them make the world a better place, the best that I know how. I pray that you're surrounded by all the people that will help you to have the best day that you possibly can have. And I pray that all my ancestors that passed on before me or looking down when they can, and are helping to keep me on the right path and away from distractions that will lead me away from my purpose. And I pray Lord father for all the people that I know of who've been diagnosed with cancer and other diseases, that they continue to heal from the inside out, top to bottom left to right, in this dimension and in any other dimensions that they may continue to be afflicted with these diseases. I pray Lord father for all the people that we know of who have had health problems in the past and in the present so that they can continue to heal and have the best quality of days moving forward, and that they are afforded the opportunity to continue making forever memories with their friends and their families. That they continue finding new and better ways themselves to make this world a better place. And I pray Lord father for your protection in everything that I do, everywhere that I go, and every thought that I have. I declare all doors that were previously closed to me to be open. I pray that all obstacles that you used to be in my way are no longer in my way. I pray that you continue to lead me down the path that leads me to my purpose and to keep me free from distractions that may keep me from focusing on what it is that I need to do, when I need to do it, and how I need to do it. Thank you for helping me to continue making these videos to continue inspiring people to do their best, and to be their best. So that they can be a light in the darkness and continue to illuminate the path around them so that they can be their best, and help those people in the darkness to be there best. So that when it's our time to pass on into the next life whatever's coming next, I pray that we're all in good company and I pray that we've all carried out the missions that were all meant to accomplish here in this life. I thank you for this opportunity and I thank you for these blessings, mentally, physically, spiritually, emotionally and financially. I pray for a great rest of the day today. I pray to have all the tools at my disposal to make more better decisions instead of worst decisions. And I thank you for the opportunity to do so in Jesus name. I pray and the name of the father, son and the holy spirit. Amen.

As an atheist, I have found the mentions of God in A.A. somewhat disturbing to me at first, but now I understand that they are references to a Higher Power. My Higher Power is my A.A. group.

Religions and the concept of God are helpful in sobriety by providing hope ... and can act as a placebo effect. However, as an atheist myself, science was the game changer in my sobriety, once I understood the science behind addictions, i could act on it... most importantly working on my biochemistry and regaining the baseline of my neurotransmitters through supplementation, exercise, diet, meditation, and good sleep. Then working on other areas like addressing underlying issues, improving my mental health and so.

I've been there Jae, not fun but Thanks be to God He loved me and was there for me at my lowest when nobody else could not even myself. That's why I now give myself to God daily to use however He wills. I now love myself and others and all because God first loved me in the darkest of times. He took me out of the darkness and placed me into the marvelous light. He began to clean me up, love me and heal me. It is an ongoing process I'm not perfect but I strive to walk the narrow way. Amen, Jae, and thank you for sharing. I got sober just after Mother's Day 2022. My marriage was in a very toxic place, and I was using alcohol and green to connect with my then husband. I was waiting until our son was asleep before I'd start drinking for the evening. I started to realize my agitation when our son took longer than usual to get to sleep. I realized I was planning, when grocery shopping, how much wine I'd need to buy to get through the week. Also, the wine and green were getting buzzed really quickly at this point, and it scared me at times. Although It was easy to quit drinking once I decided to, my sobriety made the tension within our marriage worse, and I truly believe it was God that sent me to that first al-anon meeting. I now pray with gratitude daily sometimes several times daily. I don't usually talk about my spiritual journey because of being ridiculed, but I wouldn't be where I am now if it weren't for God and I wouldn't know what I do about boundaries, red flags, and substance abuse if it weren't for our marriage. 🙏♥️ I am truly grateful for this channel.
@GettingSoberAgain Жыл бұрын
The ridicule is ridiculous. We should all be free to choose our own relationship with God and speak freely without persecution. Just like any other topic, they all have an audience and some people just won't have much to contribute on the matter. One of the things I believe that is lost on today's society is the ability to just have conversations, listen and get to know each other better. THAT could also be said to be more godly. I'm happy to have opened up the dialogue to allow people to be more confident in their own skin. I will most likely lose the most subscribers from this video, but it's a small price to pay and every battle will not be without its own wounds. 🙏🙏🙏

Can I just say Thank you!! And I love you!! And I am thankful for you being OBEDIENT to God's calling over your life. Even if it meant dying to yourself. I got sober in 2022 and then something happen and I lost all my savings and for the last 2 years I have struggled all in my head. And with everything you mention the fruits of struggling with Alcohol is so self disappointing. Then we get into this cycle of drinking to numb ourselves of what we did when we were last drunk, sober up, remeber, drink again and the saga continues. I want off this hamster wheel. But I came here to say that as a Christian, I was delivered from alcohol addiction, but was tested, and I failed and went right back in. So when I go into my Christian way of asking for forgiveness from all these horrible things I was doing under the influence, I feel more guilt and shame, and it may or may not lead me back. ❤Key Point- listening to you, and the information you bring it tends to feel less shameful coming from you. You bring a different level of acknowledgment, awarness and teaching.. and I love and receive it!! Again thank you!

I appreciate your kind words! I accept that I have the wonderful opportunity to remind people that they matter, and that we all only have one life to live. We aren't perfect and we are not without sin. But as you mention, accountability is key in making progress along this journey through life. Keep spreading your positivity, and know that someone will rely on YOUR strength someday. Consider each day as training for that moment. 💪

I've watched the channel for a while, but never commented before. I am a believer, and that doesn't change, but my unhealthy relationship with alcohol does from time to time. I don't believe that Yahweh asks everyone to abstain, but I believe He has asked me to. I want to be more submissive to His will, and any alcohol seems to thwart the communications channel. I could relate so strongly to every second of this video, and I plan to make this channel part of my everyday routine, along with the daily Bible Recap. Other believers may want to check it out. Thank you.

The religion in my town was part of the reason I drank😂 it was so othering and close-minded. But now I live in a place with all sorts of faiths and it’s so much better. For me there’s some mystical elements to life in friendship and experiences and music. That’s good enough for me, any organized thing just fills me with dread! Everyone’s got a god of sorts even if it’s no god. 27 days today.
@GettingSoberAgain Жыл бұрын
I've also never been one to practice organized religion. In my pursuit while being a young man to practice the teachings of Jesus Christ, I found the PEOPLE within the buildings to be the most off putting aspect of the charade. But that is not to say that I would consider allowing myself to be unwaivered from a higher purpose, which is part of what today's society is lacking in it's own crusade to reject and dismiss anything and anyone that isn't of man, "fact", science, logic and reason. Spirituality certainly holds a very important place at the table.

My faith grew when I realized I didn't need church to pray, I can pray anywhere. I always have my faith it's with me everywhere every day. Thinking like that is clearly a trap and I'm glad you learned your lesson. A lot of people think God is supposed to just provide everything all the time and make life worth living. Thank you for having the courage to make this particular video, Jae. You are indeed a light in this world and I do believe God is using you and this channel to help so many people. 🙏🏻❤️ I'm now 25 days sober and I can say without a doubt that I wouldn't be here without God. I also had to reach out towards the end of my drinking because I had reached "the end of myself." I've always heard that particular phrase throughout my lifetime but never really understood what it meant. But I had read all the books, watched all the videos, listened to all the podcasts, quit so many times I've lost count, etc. until I finally realized I just can't do it on my own. So I asked Him to help me, and He did. I don't really believe on coincidences, so I can say with confidence that God led me to your channel. I also think He uses all our past attempts to get sober to help prepare for the final attempt that sticks (if that makes sense.) I'm so grateful for you, Jae, and hope the Lord continues to bless you and this channel so that you can help even more people out of the hell that is addiction. AMEN!!!!! 🙏🏻💞🙏🏻💞

I use the AA approach to sobriety which is much like your philosophy. I have no power over alcohol because I gave it to alcohol. I surrendered my life and will to a higher power of my choosing. Mine happened to be the Christian God. I know people in AA who are Buddhist, Agnostic, Atheist, or use the universe as their higher power. AA is about staying sober by using a framework of steps but the higher power is open to each individual. For myself I only pray for knowledge of God's will in my life and for Him to give me the strength to carry it out. Thank you for sharing your belief! I love hearing the "meat" of anyone's walk in sobriety. I appreciate how you are using your personal story to heal people who are trapped in addiction or need an uplifting message while practicing sobriety. God bless you.

WOW….very powerful Jae, thank you. I pray everyday, but certainly don’t pray like that. I felt everything you said and even prayed after watching this and telling God this is exactly how I feel and how I want to pray, but I don’t know how. You really inspired me to do better. Thank You Jae, (Healer) …. God Bless You! BTW, I’m 7 days today…💪🏼💪🏼🥰

May God bless you!!! About a year or two ago I started praying to learn how to pray better. And sometimes they listen to other prayers on KZbin and I'm always inspired when I hear other people pray because I think that one of the most important parts of prayer is thoughtfulness. It's a great exercise to see where you're at mentally, emotionally, and spiritually to practice prayer for others, including God!

I don't consider myself religious, but I definitely find myself sometimes hoping for good things for my loved ones and myself. I also have a deep gratitude for and appreciation of life. Being a good person, helping others, and treating ourselves with respect (which can include getting sober - I'm about to hit 5 months!) shouldn't depend on believing in God or not. Love this video!

I'm so lucky! Before the lucky moment I saw this, my father used to pray every morning, with me and my brother, " thank you for a beautiful day of life..." Mind you, he lived a relatively challenging life for a 1st generation American. He was about to head off to a gut-busting job in severe weather, much of the time. Surrounded by miserable whack jobs, for the most part. To this day, my gratitude for this gift of is still strong. Thank you your reinforcing this strength. Have a happy day of life!i!

Atheist here but you know what? I don’t care how you get sober just do it! My youngest daughter is 5 years clean and sober from heroin and meth. She believes in God and credits her sobriety to NA. To each his/her own. There is no wrong way to get sober.

Ha, love that Cornhub reference. I loved this video, thank you. I've tended to swing between Agnosticism and Spirituality at different points in my life. However, recently trying sobriety again I did pray and ask God for help and to help me be strong and that I would do my best to figure out his path for me, if I could get back on the right track. I found myself feeling much stronger since then and have continued to pray every day. I remember being this far along last time and really struggling, this time it feels different. Yep, could just be the power of thought or whatever. But I'm willing to believe in a higher power and I feel so much more spiritual now that the alcohol is out of my system.

For me it was the other way around Jae. Drinking was a form of self-abandonment and when I drank I also felt I lost my connection to God even though I prayed 'on the hoof' as it were. I don't believe we can do selective abandonment and the more I drank the more I stopped prioritizing my relationship with Him by spending time in His presence and that scared the heck out of me more than anything! It's taken me a while to feel I'm back in my own skin and probably the most important lesson I learned is that He hadn't abandoned me - I'd abandoned Him and I never want to find myself in that place again - addiction is spiritual death and that's too high a price to pay for a drink! Great question by the way!🙏👍
@GettingSoberAgain Жыл бұрын
That's a great way to look at it! That's part of why I mentioned that people tend to treat God like a genie that's just here to grant wishes, rather than being closer to their own divinity. Have a great rest of this beautiful Sunday 🙏

I really appreciated your raw honesty on this subject. I consider myself a Christian - just very much dislike attending church and feel I just don’t fit in after a lifetime of trying and being a perpetual backslider. I was raised in a Pentecostal church and some of the behaviour I witnessed even as a child made me feel very uncomfortable indeed. As a youngish adult I was out of there which was more difficult than most people could imagine. However, my current workplace is great. We are very multicultural and respect each other’s religious views, which I would say applies to your channel as well, which makes me feel comfortable. Love your channel and binge watching while in my early days of sobriety after many failed attempts. So grateful I found your channel. 😊
