25 HOUR TRAIN RIDE Across Türkiye | Train Travel Vlog

On our journey to eastern Türkiye, we had a few options: bus, plane, and train. Bus is one that we've done many times before and feel very comfortable with and plane is expensive, so we decided to go with the most interesting option to us! This is no ordinary train, though.
The Dogu Express is a 25 hour train ride from Ankara to the eastern town of Kars. You are able to get sleeper cars which was a huge plus coming from constant bus travel over the preceding few months. We actually ended up having to book an entire 4-person room just for us since they don't allow different genders to book together without booking the whole room.
We spent the long ride staring out the window at the amazing views and getting some food "catered" to us!

Lovely adventure..❤I opted for a full tour through an agency as was snow worst winter for 50 years ! and inc Kars Van Bitlis when got off train. Amazing. Had my own compartment. Didnt sleep as train was rattling Agatha Christie style ..no shower for some reason but still good and staff insisted on sharing their breakfast with me, we communicated with google translate .. a magic dream whole time. Train was late believe because of snow and whole group was interviewed by newspaper as they hadnt done tours to a certain area so we got a royal welcome lol.. Was a few hundred gbp but v cheap compared to a weekend even in Uk and inc so much food and lovely hotels in towns along the way. Rest of time I was in v basic hostels

That sounds like such a cool experience!! I guess we were pretty lucky with the train being fairly smooth the whole time but I can see how it would be hard to get sleep if it was any worse!

The compartment you found is a so-called "couchette", the real sleeper compartments are more comfortable and have a sink in the room. Turkish trains have always a problem with temperature. In summer they are too cold and in winter too warm.

That would have been awesome! We were super happy with our couchette but we would love to try the real sleepers sometime. The temperature wasn’t too bad luckily! Thanks for the info 😊

😍Kars is so beautiful in winter. Went there with a tour for the real winter experience and it was such a small and a beautiful city(Not the mention the deadly cold 🥶) ☃️

Yeah we thought it was great! I’d be curious to go back one day and try the tourist train to see how much more luxury you get haha but we thought this was just perfect!

I travelled a lot with Turkish trains. Usually toilets are cleaner. Much better than in the past.

Looks amazing. We haven't done enough train journeys, one in the US that was long and painful (we were unprepared), and one in Egypt that was just overnight. This looks like something we would enjoy!

We definitely recommend it!! If you can make it work, doing it during winter seems like the best time so you can see snow!

Keyifli ve hareketli bir seyahat olmuş. Video kayıtlarınız da çok güzel, tebrikler.. Tren yolculukları zaten çok güzeldir. Doğu Ekspresi'nin güzergahı çok hoş manzaralar sunuyor. Ama kış mevsiminde her yer karla kaplıyken bu yolculuk daha da heyecanlı oluyor. Doğu Ekspresi çok ünlü ve gezginler tarafından çok tercih ediliyor. Trende özel bir kabinde birlikte seyahat etmek, yolculuğu daha da keyifli hale getiriyor. Turistik Doğu Ekspresi ise elbette daha lüks bir hizmet veriyor ama çok pahalı. Sizin tercihiniz bence doğru olmuş, en iyisi bu trenle yolculuk yapmak. Size iye seyahatler diliyorum.🤩🤩👋👋👋💫
