Dude, DST completely sucks around these parts. Ignoring that fact that I always really struggle with getting my own circadian rhythms to adjust. Every time we switch, we see a huge increase in road kill. Dead rundown wildlife like deer, foxes, rabbits, porcupines, etc., even domesticated cats lying all mangled up by the side of the road everywhere... it is nothing short of a horror show. - Because they obviously get used to the rhythm of our rush-hour periods, and then we suddenly just change it one hour back or fourth, totally out of the blue without any warnings, from their perspective.

Old 1960s (or 70s?) commercial. Man takes off his Timex watch and lays it on the ground. An elephant steps on it and moves on. Men ask the man: "What time is it, John Cameron Swayze? Man picks up watcjh, looks at it, and replies: "Time to get a new Timex!"

I remember back in the 60s when we first went on DST. There was a TV segment where a reporter was asking people what they thought about it. A spokesman for a group of farmers was against it. He was complaining that the extra hour of sunlight would burn up all the crops! True story.

@andrewshingleton4062 True, but a lot of times, it doesn't seem so long ago that something happened. It doesn't feel like it's been 15 years since Michael Jackson died. 10 years maybe, but not 15 already.

Each year is a smaller fraction of the life that you have experienced. When you are ten, the next year is only 1/11th of your life. At age 60 the next year is only 1/61st of your life experience so it feels shorter. at 99 the next year will only equal 1/100th of your life experience a drop in a vast ocean of experiences.

Exactly! The older you get, the more 'time' has 'momentum' built up behind you, and momentum tends to cause objects to move faster...since our understanding of 'time' is limited, this is the best we can explain it

It's nice to have daylight savings time because of the fact that it would be boring if it's all the same time as the year of getting up and going to bed. Also we do this thing and my local club called Glow run where we have a trail loaded with all the glow in the dark stuff so people can find for kids. Kind of like a scavenger hunt that's a glow in the dark. And it'd be hard to do it if there was a later time in the night getting dark to do it.

I hate DST, in this age of 24 hour commerce, there is no need, shops have their lights on all day anyway. I don't actually change my clocks, they are permanently set on GMT (same as utc), i only change my alarm When i was working, and even now, i feel more tired during DST. I think we should stick to standard time, just need to agree the 'business hours', especially for international trade, maybe set it half hour forward so it's in between standard and dst. You have to think of DST as having to get up an hour earlier for 6 months. Time, Ticking away the moments that make up a dull day

This would be a bad video to watch while high... 😆 Regarding daylight savings, I do find it easier to wake up in the morning when it's light and I feel a lot safer when i go for a jog in the morning. Though I hated it when I was working nights and the time would suddenly go from 2am to 1am and I'd be stuck at work for an extra hour.

Short vs long lines: I just go to self-checkout, where I usually beat all the other cashiered lanes. I HATE light in the evening. As a kid, the next-door neighbor's basketball hoop was under my window and I had to endure a couple hours of their practicing as I TRIED to sleep. It didn't help that they had a cute sister who sometimes joined them.

Like the time machine and Guy pearse being of The Traveller in the film where the moon breaks up He owns his house and the surroundings is it possible that if he selects 300yrs that maybe to the Observer who might just see him freeze in place with some kind of Shield but where he stays completely motionless until his time reaches it's number and the time machine finishes It's Time space and the traveller moves once again When he wishes to travel into the past is where the difficulties start Time & space being always linked This maybe the reason why it will be If it takes us 70 years to reach Alpha Centauri and we discover they have a timeless space machine And we use it to travel home we would arrive 30 years before we left maybe

Got a lot of catching up to do with your vids, Mike! Started having a MAJOR headache all the time starting in late March, which made screen viewing extremely limited, and it was pretty much constant, though it wasn't something serious like major migraines or even a stroke, for that matter, thankfully... Hey, I'm only 35 going on 36! XD Anyway, that headache stayed constant and I had to either avoid small screens altogether or just use them for just a few minutes at a time at most... That meant no List25 vids, argh... Around the end of last month(April), though, I saw my doctor and she put me on medicine that reduced the intensity over a few days, and soon, I was able to use my tech as I normally do again! Thank goodness for that! I was finally able to do that around the beginning of this month(May), but I was still pretty cautious as to how much I used my tech at first, so the first few weeks, I gradually incorporated more and more tech usage, first just checking email and answering texts, then moving to short videos like cat vids, then in the past couple weeks, I finally let myself watch long videos like for video game themes and stuff, and just today(May 21, 2014) finally started back on watching your vids again! W00T!! Got a lot of catching up to do as a result, as I just said, but since it's your channel, it's totally _worth_ it!! You rock, and I love your sense of humor! 🤩🤣

In parts of the country along the westernmost portions of time zones, drive-in theaters were hurt by Daylight Savings Time. Where I grew up in Indiana, along the western edge of the Eastern Time zone, drive-ins in early summer could not start their first movie until 9:40 pm. I have health issues that cause Insomnia, but it is very irregular! Sometimes I sleep a couple of hours at night, sometimes I sleep all day. Sometimes I go to sleep when it's dark & wake in the dark! I think I've slept a couple of hours & it's the same night, but I find it's the next evening! Therefore I lose a day! That's really confusing, to my body as well as my mind! Back during Covid my fever caused me to lose several days at a time! I don't work nor do I have a TV, so I have no normal time clues! I despise DST!!! My daughter lives in Arizona, so I always have figure out if there are 2 or 3 hours difference from my home! If they'd just choose one or the other, I'd be satisfied! Standard time would keep AZ always 3 hrs behind, but DST would leave more light in the evening. 6 of one, half a dozen of the other! Since the original reason for DST is gone, why do we still do it??

10 to the negative 18th power attoseconds equals 1 second. There’s more attoseconds in a second than their are seconds in the entire history of our universe. An electron orbits an atom in 200 attoseconds. Electron time will be more accurate than atomic time once we develop it. On the quantum scale, this seems to be the action of time which correlates with the processing of consciousness. So it’s not so much time/space curvature as it is time curving space.

I finished watching this at 10:52 PM on Thursday, March 21, 2024. And if you live so close to Disney that you visit so often, where do you vacation to?

Like the old song says does anybody really know what time it is? I never liked daylight saving time. Just keep the clock 'turned back" all year. I like when it gets dark earlier bc i don't feel guilty if i dont go outside.i know it's rough on my bod when the time changes forward. As for waiting in line at the store, no matter what line I'm in the other line moves faster.

time is simply as this: yesterday we were born, today we live, tomorrow we will die.

Standard time for me! It should not stay light nearly as late as it does in June and July.

It's 7:37 pm right now central time. You know Iraq and Afghanistan doesn't do DST and I don't even think I noticed it there. Then it could have been because I was wanting to just come home but who knows.

You talked about sidereal vs solar days. You should have used that to discuss a day on Mercury. A sidereal day on Mercury is 59 Earth days. 176 Earth days is how long a solar day on Mercury is.

Can’t help but notice your USF shirt-I did a couple of months of temp work for them back in the 1980s. I probably should have taken the job they offered me, but I was doing great as a temp (I learned word processing [such as it was then] in the 1970s) and I had no way of knowing that Bill Gates was going to ruin my life by making it accessible to the masses. _C’est la vie!_
