Born in 83. I have a special nostalgia for the 90s. I'm sure most anyone my age does, but it sure does seem it was a simpler time.
@ClintOrris Жыл бұрын
It was both simpler and yet more complex. Technology has made our lives more efficient, but at a cost. Life was slower back then, yet still packed with possibilities. Technology didn't invade every aspect of our lives and most of the technology in our lives was there to make our lives easier. Now technology has been designed to make our lives easier but also with less privacy. It's a big trade off that over time has long repercussions. The thing I miss most was the socializing. Personal relationships genuinely meant a lot more back then. People would take the time to spend literally all day just to play board games together with neighbors and friends. Barbeques and parties were common throughout the entire summer. Even if it was just cheep hot dogs, corn on the cob, and maybe some burger patties, people would get together almost every evening throughout the summer. It was that or sit inside and watch TV, if you had one. People in apartment buildings would even leave their doors open when they were at home, so that neighbors could just walk by and say hello, although this quickly became phased out even in the 90s, I still saw it enough to know it was still a common thing. In so many ways I miss it. I know it had it's major flaws, but it was truly a great time to have been alive. I'm glad I was a 90s kid

The man just told him that the car wasn’t for him. In that moment I realized I was old. Kids (most not all) old enough to drive and buy their own cars, have no idea what a manual transmission is. I still can’t drive one, have tried many times, but at least I know what it is! LOL

@@susanwright1931 the one vehicle I've tried it with was a 1987 Ford Ranger where the transmission was blown, so it had about half of second gear and that's it. From the fashion, to the music, the toys, the video games, the Disney movies, Nickelodeon, Pokémon, the list goes on! I had my long hair up in a ponytail with a scrunchie a lot of the time; played on my digital pet thing called a Giga Pet, similar to a Tamogotchi, a whole lot; had a ton of Beanie Babies and Polly Pockets; watched a lot of Disney movies numerous times(when you mentioned Disney movies and I saw the Lion King clips, you got Circle of Life stuck in my head! XD); was introduced to the whole Lisa Frank and Hello Kitty fads; saw my share of Nick shows at school before it started for the day(my home didn't have cable tv for much of the decade), shows like Doug, Aaahh Real Monsters, Rocko's Modern Life, Rugrats, All That, The Amanda Show, and (ugh! gave me nightmares!) Beetlejuice; discovered Pokémon and _adored_ it, the cards, the show, and the video game; got introduced to computer games like Dig Dug, Pac Man, Solitaire, Minesweeper, 3D Pinball, Kid Pix, and others; discovered Robin Williams films and _adored_ them; played outside a lot more; got hooked on video games(well, watching them being played, mostly, aside from Pokémon) like Bomberman Hero, Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time, Donkey Kong 64, Mario Party 2, Mario Kart 64, Gran Turismo, etc...; and so on and so forth... XD That was a nice trip down memory lane, dude! ^_^

I was born at the beginning of that wonderful decade and I was caught in the Canadian crazes that were popular during the time. I remember growing up playing with Furby, watching awesome TV shows and getting awesome Happy Meal toys from McDonalds. Also, I well remember the Disney Reneaissance era which I watched just about every musical from that decade. The Little Mermaid, Beauty and the Beast, The Lion King, Pocahontas, Mulan and Tarzan were the movies that were released during that time. In fact, one of my favorite shows The Big Comfy Couch debuted in 1993 on YTV and it was a great Canadian show teaching us valuable lessons. Then, Arthur, Teletubbies and Blue's Clues came along on my radar and I was hooked to the TV screen. Even Caillou was interesting to me, even though that show was annoying to parents. Today, I don't even watch the new kids' shows because I'm often drawn to the nostalgia of the 90s. Also, we had kitchen parties and yes, celebrating class birthdays was a real thing. I even collected troll dolls and other collectible toys back in those days.

In the years since NOTHING stands out as original , not music, fashion, art , political thought and practice, architecture. Nothing but fear and cynicism even the "me too" and "black lives matter" had origins in fear and abuse. I feel for the youth of today but I also despair of them. Stand up, fight back, shout louder. One word that describes the 90s is "Optimism". Even though we were facing so many problems then, our outlook in life was optimistic. We were just excited about so many things. The new millennium, and the technology it brought. But then 2020s came we all wish we could take a one-way ticket trip back into the 90s. Some of my highlights of the 90s 1. We did not have social media back then, so we interacted in person. We hanged out, took long bicycle rides, we really bonded together. Friendship at the age of social media became fake. 2. We were not distracted by our phones during meal times, or during dates 3. We had sports heroes! NBA was gaining world wide popularity. 4. Our TV shows were all fun. We had great sitcoms. Now every series is supposed to be dark. No longer about having fun with friends, but now more about serial killers. 5. We did not have toxic social media personalities

If Beanie Babies were released today, they would absolutely be worth a fortune. Anything with any hype typically exceeds on the secondary market.

The Noughy era...my era, yes. I miss this a lot. Hard to believe that it wasn't long ago either. Also I can't believe that the party decade sort of gave birth to this weird decade. Considering it was just a generation, the divide is quite huge. Yes, the last of everything, as we'll never do a lot of this stuff again.

Also.... 1. Bud....weis......ERR! 2. Listening in on my brother's calls and fighting over phone time(sometimes saying stupid shyt to embarrass him). 3. Water balloons, Nerf guns, electric race tracks, best video games(Mario Bros, Contra, Mega Man). oh shyt also Echo the Dolphin, it was dope man! 4. Summer breaks sneaking in Town Pools(a lot here in Jersey). 5. Carrying pen and paper to get/give phone numbers(also carrying lots of quarters for calls) 6. Literally, the Best Dance parties!(given a new hit would come out every week). 7. Boom box on your shoulder(meant carrying extra batteries and extra cassettes in your Jansport book bag). 8. Fresh Timbos(need I say more). 9. Being 32 waist, so that meant buying 36(Tommy, Paco, Fubu, Pelle Pelle, Phat Farm). 10. Olde 40's, nicks/dimes, White Owl/Dutches 😂😂 Damn....the very best of Days!!! Snap kid, I meant to say those days were da bomb! Phat as hell B! Peace out ✌️

90s were just golden. Good Music, Good Movies, Good TV, Iconic moments in Sports, Video Games were on their prime, No Social Media, No Powerpuff Girls, No Ed, Edd n Eddy, No Smartphones, No Bullshit. Just Good Times.

Online culture in the 90's was far more elite, and trolling, than today. Mom and Dad started getting online in the early 2000's, we used to have it to oursellves. The BBS was further from maintstream culture than the chans today.

If any young people out there need proof that the 90s was better and it's not just some nostalgic longing from old people, i can explain it this way.... in the 90's your computer never made you feel sad, angry, jealous or cause any other negative emotions or mental health issues.... unlike today. There you go, proof that YES the 90s really was better.

I miss Orbits so much. I was a huge fan of them when they came out both due to their taste and the nerd cred that came with knowing how those little balls were suspended. But they were insanely expensive for the time. At $3.00-$5.00 a pop, depending on if you luckily found them at a grocery store, or stumbled across them at Busch Gardens, at a time when a one litre Coca-Cola was only 99¢, it was doomed to fail once the wow factor wore off.

Those were the best days! For my sister and me, it meant playing outside, socializing, and some of the best pop culture! Whether it was reading popular books (Babysitters Club for me, Goosebumps for her), or watching the best sitcoms (Friends, Frasier, Seinfeld) or some of the best cartoons (Tiny Toon Adventures, Animaniacs, Pinky and the Brain), it was the best time to be a kid or a teen. But those days don't last forever. Things are so different now. We'll still have the memories, though. By the way, I still enjoy watching some of these shows in reruns. Good thing we have DVDs!

“The last great decade” seems pretty accurate to me. It was the last time people really felt optimistic about the world. It’s hard to describe to people what it feels like to live in a time when people thought things were getting better not worse.
