@@iwest6256 That's not really an excuse though because bullet bill launchers and cannons don't line up with the slopes yet they still act the same. Steep slopes and the diagonal checkpoint look like they have the same rotation. Besides, all they would have to do is put the checkpoint further into the slope like at 2:11. Look here, the checkpoint is going _inside_ of that solid block, not on the direct edge! If you're gonna say that the issue is with the gentle slopes, then they could just add more rotation options.

The removal of pipe stacking is so frustrating. I loved being able to hide secret rooms inside pipes. The inability to the starting area seems like it was supposed to prevent troll levels from instantly killing you, but they can still do that by simply dropping an enemy on you outside of the restricted area.

@@CrebbiFR Nintendo themselves used half-way pipes though, admittedly they didn't use it to glitch the transition when you went back inside, but they used it for purely aesthetic reasons. Shame you still can't do it, overall I really enjoy the sequel much more than the original game but I hope in an update a few of these things from SMM1 are brought back.

Actually, sideways trampolines will launch objects left or right depending if a power block is above, or below the trampoline. This can be utilized for unique puzzles.

I noticed when comparing some of the enemies, Lava Bubble and Bloopers have a little cleaner sprite change in SMM2. The Cheep Cheep seemed to lose its shine in SMM2 at least when looking at this comparison. Lastly, some of the sprites in SMM2 have had their colors deepened or contrast raised a slight bit.

Webwood Main A lot of it is to stop troll level design which people complained for years. Now we have people complaining that the tricks used like instadeath at the start is a downgrade? Don’t forget we have switch blocks, a whole damn new style with another one most likely coming as DLC, Probably gonna be Galaxy. NintenJoeGamer Yes, while that may be true, one of the only things that could be set diagonally was the checkpoint flag, the others being tracks, arrows signs and cannons, so removing the ability to do that when slopes are in the game kinda defeats that purpose of the checkpoint flag.

I disagree with 3 of these. - Grabbing shells while spinning was actually a glitch in SMW, never meant to be a thing, which is why it IS possible in the NSMB U style by simply spin jumping with a shell. - Not overwriting tiles can actually be helpful for careless placement. A maker could accidentally remove ground while placing conveyors and not notice it, and this helps fight those small, yet potentially crucial accidents. - Respawning items were almost always used to cheese levels where the maker forgot that was a thing, so this ends up resulting in less cheese from more level creators, while also making it easier to prevent item cheese itself.

I understand that some of these have to do with added gameplay aspects. Like not being able to build behind the starting line so that it doesn’t affect the countdown to a multiplayer race. If there is anything missing that actually makes me sad, it’s probably the overlapping pipes. It just looked nice design-wise.

Some of the tweaks you may have to work around in certain cases (a big one for two of my levels was the new overlap rules regarding pipes and one-way blocks), but overall they're not "bad", just different. For example, if you make a boss room where you have to defeat a Giant Bowser using only shells or bob-ombs, it's actually a lot better that they now do 3pts damage instead of 1!

#2 and #11 are part of a broader update to the editor's overlap rules just in general. For example, red coins can no longer be hidden behind certain kinds of objects (Munchers, etc). #4(a) is primarily for the multiplayer support, but it also reduces certain kinds of trolling (e.g. immediately kicking the player off the start location, such as by partially walling it off, or by dropping a horizontal spring on them). #4(b) - SMM2's start ground is also now widened to 7 tiles wide (Mario still starts on tile 5, which is no longer the corner). #5 is related to checkpoints originally being a variation on the arrow signs in SMM1. Various other items have been similarly separated from each other in SMM2. #5(b) - Checkpoints no longer automatically turn Small Mario into Super Mario (instead, you can attach a powerup to them directly). This means certain level types (e.g. "Super Mario vs. Mecha Bowzilla") no longer have to add a forced hit after a checkpoint. #7 is related to #4, as building over the start area was the primary way to get Mario inside Ground tiles to begin with. #8 and #16 are actually the same: depending on what object is on top of the block, this can prevent its contents from spawning at all. #10(b) - In SMM1, hit detection if running atop spikes was slightly asymmetrical (i.e. you took damage sooner if approaching spikes from, I believe, the left side) #24 - Piranha Plants can also be attached to ceilings now. And now for some additional subtle details: * - Warp pipes are always the same color on both ends (if you change one end, the other changes to match). * - Enemies set as a clear condition do not respawn after being defeated (i.e. if you leave/re-enter the room). * - When bouncing a (vertical) Thwomp off of a Buzzy helmet, in SMM2 it returns to neutral status (in SMM1 it continued falling/bouncing). This is likely due to the addition of horizontal Thwomps. * - In SMW style, if you are wearing a Buzzy helmet, toss a shell upwards, then bounce it off of your helmet on the way down, in SMM1 it could still deal damage to any enemies it falls on, but in SMM2 it will not. * - Bowser takes more damage from attacks other than fireballs (now 3pts instead of 1), making certain types of boss encounters less repetitive. * - In some level themes, a pipe that is attached to Ground tiles will now extend 1/2 tile into said ground, perhaps due to many Ground tiles having rounded corners.

I'd say the biggest issue out of all of them for me is removing something you could do in the original games. You could spin jump with items in Super Mario World, you could do it in the SMW style in SMM 1, but you can't do it in SMM2.

Ikr If Nintendo and KZbin share one thing in common it's having a terrible concept of who are 'stealing their property' and who are not,In Nintendo's case fan game creators are, well just fans wanting more without pressuring the creator themselves/making people who can't afford newer games a worse but still good version,(While the actual scammers relax as they get ignored. And in KZbin's case, they refuse to decrease the pay of millionaires and instead DEMONetize(because it's terrible) small content creators just making videos for a living and for the entertainment of everyone. And then there are other people (e.g. I'll give Scott Cawthon because he haS played many fan-games from FNAC TJOC and ONAF)support and even play other people's fan games

Some more changes: In Super Mario Bros., tracks have a different sprite. In Super Mario Bros. and Super Mario Bros. 3, Mario is now able to crouch while small. The Super Mario Bros. Airship theme, Super Mario Bros. Ghost House theme, and Super Mario Bros. 3 all received slight alterations to their music. This was likely done to make the music more accurate to the NES hardware. In Super Mario Bros. and Super Mario Bros. 3, the sound effects for collecting pink coins and entering key doors are different.

6:49 Weirdly, it isn't always to the left. If there is a carryable item (say, a POW Block) one block or higher above the spring, then for some reason the shell will bounce to the right.

Not being able to overlap a pipe with a one-way wall is annoying because then you have to dedicate more space in a level to a pipe the creator doesn’t want you to re-enter. The “forbidden” area at the beginning of the level is also pretty annoying because it prevents you from using semi-solid platforms as a background throughout the _entire_ course.

Just something most people won't care about. In SMM1 When you stay in the area behind the axe, Bowser will hop on the axe and then do a full jump that go over your head. In SMM2, Bowser will just walk down the axe first and then jump over your head. Leave only last 2 block for you to not get hit.
