You left out half identical twins. It's EXTREMELY rare, but it HAS happened that an egg split BEFORE being fertilized, and both halves have been fertilized by separate sperm. These half identical twins receive identical DNA from the mother, but different DNA from the father. This has only been documented in a small number of cases.

My mom and her sister were identical twins and I gotta tell it was weird to have two identical mothers and that’s what happened because they were never separated. They would go to their respective families at night but during the day,together. And dont get me started on the weird language they used or how many times I watched them communicate without words. I saw my mom on so many occasions pick up the phone (1950’s) and my aunt would be on the line. I grew up believing all this was normal but as an adult im glad for the experience . Thanks for sharing this video,i find twins fascinating beyond words.

Our youngest sons are identical twins. They were a surprise thinking 2 kids was plenty. They have kept us younger and more active. People in Scouts and sports were always surprised how old we were, usually old enough to he their parents! It's been a great experience that's not over yet. They each had sons born just 4 months apart - virtual twins! They don't have the almost intuitive understanding of each other that their fathers still share but they do bring back memories when they go running after each other across the yard.

I had best friends in high school who were identical twins. One was left handed and the other right, one was gay and the other straight, one was born with one tooth missing from his set of adult teeth and the other had one too many... there were heaps of little mirror opposite things like this but I can't remember them now (it's been over 20 years!) but I always found it fascinating

My brother had an Fraternal twin who died in before being born (My mom was about 5 months a long) The doctors had to deliver his twin but, not him. I guess what happened is that my brother was so much bigger that he took up more of the uterus and nutrients. If his twin had been born alive, my brother would have been fine but, Dean, his twin, would have been severely mentally and physically handicapped. When the twin died, the doctors told my mother that she was no longer pregnant. She told them that she was and could still feel the baby moving. An x-ray was done and there was a 2nd baby in there, my brother Dale. she carried him full term. this was in 1969.

Mariam Nabatanzi (Mama Uganda) has 44 children. In 2015, her husband abandoned the family, reportedly unable to support so many children. Born around 1980, Babirye first gave birth when she was 13 years old, having been forced into marriage the year prior. By the age of 36, she had given birth to a total of 44 children, including three sets of quadruplets, four sets of triplets, and six sets of twins, for a total of fifteen births. The number of multiple births was caused by a rare genetic condition causing hyperovulation as a result of enlarged ovaries. In 2019, when Babirye was aged 40, she underwent a medical procedure to prevent any further pregnancies.Guess she really loves yams.

I was a twin but my twin passed in the first trimester. My twin did not miscarry or be absorbed. Instead my mum spent 7 months on bed rest because of blood poisoning that was caused by my twin. I was told by two doctors that the fact that I DIDN'T end up with twins in either of my pregnancies was an oddity. Because, we have twins on both sides of my family, and because I am very tall and have an irregular ovulation. One doctor told me after my daughter was born (second child) that the chances of me conceiving twins in my next pregnancy were very high. My daughter ended up being my LAST pregnancy. Simply because I was 35 when she was born and I got my tubes removed 3 years later.

I was born in South Africa. Yams are not a big part of our diet. That is more of a West African thing. The African continent is massive and has 54 fully recognized countries. I love your channel and the care you usually take to pronounce names correctly and to be inclusive and so forth. This gaffe is a big and really disappointing surprise to me. Perhaps you could make up for it by making a video about 25 amazing facts about the people of the African continent (that doesn’t center dictators, famines, wars, and genocides). Or, if you’d really like extra credit, 25 amazing facts about each country. That would be nice.

I'm surprised it upset you so much you had to comment on it. He made an innocent mistake, so what? The entirety of your comment was so very condescending and not necessary for an honest mistake. Your comment of if "he'd like extra credit" was arrogant. Does his apology need to be signed in blood for you, too? Don't be so sensitive. Loosen up and relax.
@ChaosandFlowКүн бұрын
@@lisalynnmarie2448 I actually understand your surprise. This is an example of a dog whistle. I also understand you wanting to stick up for Mike. I also think he’s a great guy. African people are regularly confronted by assumptions that we are weird, primitive, and ignorant (“The Dark Continent”) - even from people who have the best intentions. This happens all the time to Africans but very rarely to White Americans. Hence the dog whistle thing. Mike’s surprise that the kids in Congo know about cowboys like people being surprised when a girl is good at math. These types of assumptions are more than just tedious. They can have serious consequences. I came to the US when I was almost six and the school tried to keep me out of kindergarten because they assumed I couldn’t speak English. It shocked them that not only was I fluent in (British) English, I could speak four languages. My brother suffered terribly as a toddler because the doctor couldn’t diagnose chickenpox on him. They assumed that because he was from Africa (think jungle even though there are no jungles where I was born) he must have some horrible exotic disease and gave him treatments that were totally unnecessary and very painful. That was just the beginning. Malaria is a chronic condition (like how the Chickenpox virus always stays with you) but is not communicable. In my community here in the US we’ve had two people die from malaria because the hospital assumed they had some horrible Ebola something and refused to listen to the family and just give them quinine. We don’t go to the hospital anymore when someone has a malaria attack. As for the extra credit, that really was meant to be tongue in cheek. In my experience there is a strong correlation between being obsessed with facts and lists and being obsessed with doing well in school. As a kid I was obsessed with knowing things (which is part of why I love this channel) and getting every drop of extra credit, too. I love extra credit. Mike seems to be obsessed with knowing things and getting things right, too and so would seem to also go for the extra credit. I was attempting a nerd joke. I guess I’ll keep my day job.
@ChaosandFlowКүн бұрын
@@lisalynnmarie2448 gah! I thought this was a different video (also with some unfortunate assumptions about the African continent - which actually speaks to my point). Basically, it just would be nice to be seen, you know? To be recognized instead of being erased all the time and this here is an example of erasure. It happens constantly so, no, I’m not going to relax about it. You wouldn’t relax about sexism would you?

We found out when my daughter in law talked to the pediatrition and thats when he said that its not uncommon for twins to have their own language and we should just talk notmally to them and they will soon pick up on our language and over time they will start to talk like everyone else.

But people who make videos for a living, and present them as factual information really need to nail down the factual information part of their videos. It's lazy. It's just poor form. It bothers me. Dad was born at 23:45 and my uncle was born 45 minutes later. They weren't only born on different days in different months, but also in different school years! That made it a pain in the ass when it came for my uncle to leave school. He went through school in the same year as my dad, but when it came time to leave they told him he head to repeat the last year again because he was "too young to leave"! My grandma wrote to Margaret Thatcher to ask her to make an exception, but she got a reply back from her office, basically saying tough shit. Dad and uncle ended up on the news because of it as well as on a talk show. (Can't for the life of me remember the name of the host though!)

I have a set of identical twin nieces and my sister(their mom) and I were the only ones who could tell them apart at birth. Even their dad couldn’t tell them apart when they were babies. My sister had to paint their nails different colors for him to tell them apart. She even tricked him and switched their nail colors one day and he got them wrong. When they were born, my sister had a c-section and they were only three seconds apart because they were holding hands when they were coming out.

There are a set of twins in our family. The mother add twins born every other generation back. The only way anybody could tell those twins apart was the fact that one had a tiny tiny white cataract in one of her brown eyes. As they have grown there are now differences showing. But it is still very hard to tell them apart.

Anyone remember the NBA's Van Arsdale twins? By the way, Mike, I love the throwback Bucs sweatshirt. I'm a Seahawks fan, and our teams joined the NFL the same year, 1976. I miss the original Seahawks unis, too.
