At the first hit the engine stopped. They went in for a close look a found they pulled off a million-to-one shot by hitting the fuse box.

I once shot a padlock off of my water meter after they had locked it for not being able to pay my bill. The trick is not to aim for the body of the lock. Instead, shoot the hasp, and it will usually break the first shot. In fact when I shot my lock off it just cracked it, and I could just swivel it to remove it. When I was done, I could line it back up and it looked intact. The water company never caught on!

Typically, car insurance is most expensive for you if you're between 17 and 25 years old. Prices can be brought down by opting for a telematics policy, meaning that you attach a small black chip to your engine so your insurer can monitor your driving

Not sure if this is still true but in Arizona when our son turned 16 (1996) if we owned more cars than drivers (we owned 5 cars and still do!) the insurance didn’t go sky high because our son was 16! If we had owned two cars with 3 drivers, that’s another story!!!

Although red cars' insurance is not higher, more red cars are pulled over by police (on average), than any other colour. The total number is a little different. There are many more white cars on the road than red and the overall total of white cars being pulled over is higher. The proportion of red cars being pulled over to the total number of red cars on the roads is much higher than white cars.

Simple question, where in the Constitution does it talk about separation of Church and State?
@TheJustineCredible5 ай бұрын
It doesn't, it's a commonly upheld belief that has been supported by SCOTUS rulings. There are, however, several documents written by various founding fathers that do upload this idea and that the US is NOT a "Christian" nation. One being the Treaty of Tripoli. The First Amendment specifically states: "Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion, or prohibiting the free exercise thereof; or abridging the freedom of speech, or of the press; or the right of the people peaceably to assemble, and to petition the Government for a redress of grievances." This "establishment of religion" is moreover a declaration that there should never be a government endorsed religion.
@randalmayeux88805 ай бұрын
The first amendment. Congress shall make no law pertaining to religion, to paraphrase.
@TheJustineCredible5 ай бұрын
@@randalmayeux8880 : That's an utter mistranslation. The meaning of the phrase: "Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion..." actually means Congress cannot/will not make any laws that specify any one religion ovesr any other, and that no religions are to ever be included in any laws. This has been upheld by the Supreme Court to include forcing schools to include "prayer" in their daily curriculum. Louisiana recently passed a law to display the Ten Commandments in their state's public schools. This does not, sadly, go against the US constitution as it is a state law only. States still reserve autonomy in this regard. Granted, it is highly controversial as it does give the appearance that public school children are to be indoctrinated into "Christian" beliefs through the publicly (and federally) funded schools. I'm sure we should see opposition taking this to federal court in the near future.

Only Americans use the term "candy" to refer to all types of sweets or lollies and chocolate. I don't know why Americans so often use different words to describe things that we already have a word for in the English language? Here in Oz when I was younger, I repainted my car a different colour and the cost of the insurance DID go up! I was told that the new colour would cost them more if I had an accident.

The phrase "separation of church and state" appears nowhere in the constitution. What does appear is that the government shall endorse no religion as the state religion. That's not "separation of church and state." That aside, if we had true "separation of church and state," then not only would the church not be allowed to have a say in government affairs, but the government couldn't intervene in church affairs, either. What people actually think it means is that the church will keep its nose out of government affairs but will still have to adhere to any rules the government puts in place. That's not how it would work.

A lot of these, as is usually the case, were things that happened frequently enough for the observation to be made that it must be cause and effect. Others may have been true at one time, but technology has changed, so it is no longer possible. Maybe Hollywood has perpetrated old technology as current technology to make their plots run easier. The only one that I take issue with is babies getting fevers when cutting their first few teeth. I only had one baby, but I have had a boatload of friends whose babies experienced fevers when they cut their first few teeth. Now, I could be persuaded by scientific evidence that shows that maybe in the process of the gums being split open for the tooth to come through, maybe some germ gets inside and causes the fever. I mean...after all...when they're teething, they're putting anything and everything into their mouths, so, not too much of a stretch, I guess.

Doors on the exterior of your property open inward for a reason. It's much harder to open your door outward for the police or other emergency services. Public toilet doors have a means of opening them from the outside. This is to assist in, again, emergency situations.
@mrsullivan17095 ай бұрын
The real reason they open inward is because the hinges are on the inside preventing intruders from popping the hinge pins to enter your house. If it were due to emergency issues it would make more sense for the occupants to be able to open the door outward to escape rather than inward.
@roro-jj1fv5 ай бұрын
Yep it's the hinge aspect But Mobile homes open out using a full length hinge (known as a piano hinge) thus a couple good barrel locks on inside makes them very secure (especially if you put 2 on each side [hinge & opening] then ya need major effort to get in (window defeat this tho
