I've own the 2004 iteration since brand new, Exi model. Changed the music system to the alpine one back in 2007, slapped on the ZX "leather" seat covers, it was good to go. Not a single trouble since then, no looking back even once, no regretting the decision one bit. Still runs like a charm, almost 80k kms later, like it did back in 2004. One of my more reliable cars in the lot till date, again goes without saying amazing content JayD. Im really happy that my favourite malayalam youtuber has covered all generations of my favourite vehicle. Thanks so much! Much love.

( Context : She is my mom ) You forgot, at around 2009-ish we got a used 2002-2003 City Exi as well, in the light blue colour. I recall it had beige interiors and I used to love the car back in the day. We got CNG installed as well, and it was a super efficient and fun 2nd car apart from the main daily 2004 city.

The family has been driving around a 3rd gen City (arrow shot) , since 2010. Brilliant car. No part failures whatsoever. 1.3L on odo right now, drives the same as before, just regular service with wear and tear. No sqeeks, rattles or any signs of aging. If reliability was a car, that is Honda City for us.

Thanks for covering the City in such detail. The original City and the v2 were such breathtaking cars.. I used to collect their print ads from The Hindu..The colors were stunning to say the least.. Maharaja Gold, Emerald Green.. I even remember one of the captions. “Any car can take you to your destination. Only one says you have arrived”. As a 12 year old who had only been in maruti 800s 😂, City was THE car to have. What compounded the desire was the raving reviews in magazines like Overdrive. I remember one from the late 90s where they did a comparo of 7 c-segment cars of that time.. Maruti Esteem, Sienna, Lancer, City, Ford Escort, Opel Astra and Daewoo Cielo. City came on top. It was the car everyone wanted to drive. A lot of memories of this beauty from childhood! The “aama” model that came right after was a let down. And the subsequent models never pushed the boundaries like the OG model. Honda had changed too by then by becoming an unexciting green company run by bean counters and not passionate engineers anymore.. Anyway this was such a nice trip down the memory lane. Type 2 Vtec owner here! Another way to identify the a VTEC is the chrome strip around the number plate housing. The car is an absolute hoot to drive, and spare parts are surprisingly cheap. You can still find good original KL examples below 3 or even in 2.5 - 2.7 range Try to go for a 2002-2003 one, they have the slight jerking issues in the ECM's fixed Also spare parts are still cheap and readily available and aftermarket support is also very very good thanks to groups like @SX8India

Very informative video from the vintage specialist. You could've paid more attention to the light. If the camera was fixed on the windshield, your face would've been more visible, I think. An interesting fact : Apart from the 1.3 that was offered in the first gen city, every single engine in the all generations of the City has been a 1.5. Be it a petrol, diesel or hybrid.

Wonderful journey through the City! I own a 2011 Dec 3rd Gen V Exclusive AT that's done 1.25 lakh kms. It still runs like a dream and is butter smooth! Not a penny spent over last 12 plus years on running repair. Not a single component changed! I thought it has a 5 step CVT, but heard you mention it's a torque converter! Please confirm. It's got paddle shifters. Will check the manual myself as well.

No. Gen 1 and 3 got torque convertor gearboxes. The gen 3 got paddle shifters too.
