250W MERCURY STREET LAMP.

I finally got the time to make a video of my Mercury Vapor street lamp, which I have it for a long time ago but never got the opportunity to show it to you.
So here it finally is, enjoy!

I believe this is a GE M-250A2, the final version. There were three generations of the M-250A2. The first one was formerly called the M-150; it had a square front and a boxy top. The second generation was square in the front and round on top. The third (final) generation was round on both the front and the top. This one is a third generation. It is actually rather uncommon to see a later M-250A2 in MV! Cool save!

Yup! It is indeed based on a GE model but made in Mexico haha! It is the same with my M400A: based on the GE model but manufactured in Mexico by a brand called Lumistemas! kzbin.info/www/bejne/lWfJpoyuopKpbqM

I found a 100 watt high pressure sodium street lamp after a big storm in my neighborhood. the bulb and the ballast in it still works.

I have some street lamps near me that are actually fluorescent tubes.

They were pretty common in places like europe in the 80s along with SOX lamps, if i'm correct.

The type and wattage rating of a street light is indicated by the NEMA sticker (the sticker on the power door). The sticker on this lamp is blue, and has a 25 written on it. That indicates that it is a 250 watt mercury vapor lamp. Metal Halide fixtures have red NEMA stickers, and HPS fixtures have yellow NEMA stickers.

Bobby M. The problem is that I don't have a proper ballast to fire it up. The biggest ballast wattage that I own is the one in the video 250W (I also have a 400W MH but it doesn't work anymore), so the jump between 250W and 1000W is pretty high, so for obvious reasons, I don't want to force one of the best ballast I have :(

you can use two 250w Ballast and conect them together then you have 500w

Are all Florecent tubes preheat or not please answer

Josh Strhrehyet They are not. Preheat is the oldest and "less efficient" way to fire a fluorescent, but there's also Rapid Start, Instant Start, etc. Each one has it's own method of starting, and you can find a detailed list of those starting methods on Wikipedia.
