I was stuck in the same situation a couple days ago, and chose the 16/256, because RAM can't be upgraded but for the storage you can always keep an external SSD.

@@harrisvfx agreed! Though for the original question asker, I would also say it depends on your needs. If you edit intense videos, 4K, do 3D rendering projects, etc. then MacBook Pro because of the fans to help cool down. But if you just do light graphic design, light 1080 HD video editing, no 3D projects, some light emails, and streaming videos to watch, then the MacBook Air will be just fine!

In Apple ecosystem, where is it ideal to keep important docs, files, pics? iCloud to find it in any device? SSD but that would require in multiple SSDs in case 1 corrupts? I have new ipad Air 256gb & old MBP that contains approx 150gb that i wanna have easy access to. Idk whether to buy MBA, MBP, or mini.

Good question! As much work as this sounds, I always suggest to people to have multiple backups in case one area is lost or corrupted. So the cloud, hard drive, physical copies. If you do heavy video editing, I recommend the MBP. If you only do light emails and streaming videos and maybe some graphci design, the MBA is more than enough!

@realjackeal First time buying a MacBook, but I would like to do some video editing on it. I know an M4 is overkill, but I tested it out in an Apple Store yesterday, and I'm in love-- spcially with the space black one.

Definitely buy it from Apple! Unless Amazon also offer Apple gift cards! If you account for the gift cards Apple deal is better.

And technically the trade in option as well! If you're upgrading from an older MacBook, trading that in, on top of the $100 off education discount, there's a chance buying directly from Apple, even though there's no $256 off Black Friday deal, might be better?
