I'm so totally gonna get her. Even though I have the original one, but it will be nice to celebrate 25th anniversary of Totally Hair. It would be nice if the reproduction came with a book of 90's Barbies, accessories and fashions. Also the styling gel. I think the reproduction didn't include the dep gel b/c they don't make that gel anymore.

So, it's a great doll. I like the retro look and the original body. One thing I noticed...and it's common in 90's dolls...is that her feet are splayed. So what you do is warm her feet in hot water (about 2 minutes), then use 4 Popsicle sticks as splints to straighten them. Rubber band the sticks to both sides of her legs and let the legs cool over night. Totally straight legs! And no marks on the legs.

I loved her when i was younger, pretty sure she's still packed away somewhere with the rest of them. The pink thing actually worked for me, it had wire in it..so it could bend around her head. I just bent it around and then kind of put it in a bow usually. I was so excited to see her back on shelves! Now they need to repro other ones.

I got two as well. When I got this doll, I thought of the "Totally hot, totally cool, Totally Hair Barbie" commercial too haha. The original version of the accessory at 4:28 had a bendable wire in it, so that might be why the new one is a stiff material to emulate it.

It's a head wrap...but it never really worked. Where is the Dep hair gel!! No hair gel!! 😩 The bangs are definitely an update as they look a bit more conservative vs. the crazy 90s up do! I think she's super cute, and I guess while Mattel is recreating 'Totally Hair' she wouldn't be exact. :)

A couple of years ago I finally picked up a boxed Totally Hair Barbie and I still can't bring myself to unbox her!! My original was long lost to time (and charity I think...). :)

***** really, are the dolls shorter?! I have to ask because a few years ago I picked up a repro Malibu Barbie (from the My Favorite Doll series) and when comparing an original 1971 Malibu with the reproduction doll she was about half an inch shorter...I thought I was going crazy!

the difference in size might be a deliberate way to differentiate repros from originals, but yea, not sure why they'd make the hair so different.. i guess i can understand kids today might not respond well to the fluffed up "mall bangs" that girls would have recognized 25 yrs ago, but that still doesn't explain the difference in overall length/fullness.

Hey! Jay how's it going? I just received totally Barbie doll in the mail from ebay your right she is gorgous ! about the hair texture her hair seems to be made of nylon or saran not quite sure. I remember the earlier barbies had that same hair texture. also the little pink twisty thing? that is supposed to wrap around her hair or tie it up.but the orginal one had some bendable wires in it to do all sorts of things. I was some what disappointed with that.never the less she is still cool and fun to have.Darrell .here emailing from nova scotia Canada.
