【ものだ】
really
It is used when the speaker expresses their feelings about a certain event or situation. This "〜ものだ" conveys a sense of deep emotion, admiration, or surprise, meaning "truly 〜."
Verb (dictionary form)+もの
Verb (ない form) +ものだ
な-adjective+ものだ
い-adjective+ものだ
本当に〜だなぁ
子供の成長は早いものだ。
→子供の成長は本当に早いなぁ。
Children really do grow up so fast.
この家も古くなったものだ。
→この家も本当に古くなったなぁ。
This house has truly aged.

Used to express something that is considered to be common knowledge. Describe certain feelings toward naturally occuring phenomena, truths, etc
【1. It is considered to be "A" based on common sense and personal experience. (So you should do A.)】
20時間仕事をしたら、疲れるものです。 If you work for 20hours, it is normal to become tired.
【2. "A" is out of our control. That is how the world works. We have no choice but to accept it.】
会社員は上司を尊重するものです。 Office workers must respect their boss.
1. It is used when the speaker expresses something while deeply feeling it themselves. It is used to express deep feelings of admiration or surprise.
一発でN2に合格するなんて大したものだ。
Passing the N2 exam in one go is really an accomplishment.
こんなに小さい子供がよくこんなに何か国語も話せるものだ。
It's really amazing how such a small child can speak so many languages.
転職した会社の同僚が学生時代の友達だった。世間は狭いものだ。
A colleague at my new job turned out to be a friend from my school days. It's really a small world.
2. In the form "potential form + ものだ", it is used to criticize the other person with indignation.
When "よく" or “よくも(まあ)” are used together with "〜ものだ," it emphasizes feelings of anger or exasperation.
あんなにひどいことをして、よく平気でいられるものだ
→あんなにひどいことをしたのに、平気でいられるなんて信じられない[怒り・あきれ]After doing something so terrible, how can you remain so calm? [anger, exasperation].
よくもまぁ、そんなに毎回遅刻できるものだ。
How can you be late every single time?
親に向かってよくもそんなことが言えるものだ。
How can you say such a thing to your parents?
