I utterly adore Nicky C. It's so amazing for the game of Baseball that there was someone to pick up where Votto left off as Baseball's thinker. Just so real and honest, and you can see he genuinely takes time to think about what he's being asked before he answers.

Eh, not so sure about the baseballs thinker moniker for him. Jose Iglesias league MVP?? Whether it’s hyperbole or not, seems more like a jock, vibes over numbers type guy. Brent rooker is WAY more deserving of the thinker tag.

Interesting interview as always with Nick. Been a huge fan since he started with Detroit. His comments about iglesias being mvp was interesting. When I thought about it. Made 100% sense. And I think I agree with him, not taking anything from ohtani who is definately mvp worthy. But I don’t think one persons stats count as much as the ability to pull players together and with that a city. And that Iglesias definately did

To be fair to baseball and the contracts… compared to other sports baseball is by far longer. More traveling etc. baseball is at least 8 months a year. Spring training. 162 game season with non stop traveling. The. Another month of playoffs. I’m not saying players don’t get paid a ridiculous amount of money but it’s hard to compare a baseball season to football or any other sport. Also. Large majority of players only play a few years in the MLB and don’t get paid that much.

Nick isn’t that far off when speaking about Jose Iglesias. Quick numbers. If you averaged out Iglesias stats over a full season he hwould have a 7 WAR. But nick is talking truth. Dodgers were bound for WS title without Ohtani. Ohtani didn’t play that well 8. Postseason anyway. Iglesias literally turned an entire franchise around. I’m not saying Iglesias should of won the MVP and Ohtani isn’t deserving but Iglesias was beyond unbelievable for the Mets. I like how nick said what he said.
@大山-c1n4 күн бұрын
Ohtani has highest Winning Probability Added stats in all of MLB. And you can’t stretch out for longer bc that’s not how it works. Without Ohtani dodgers didn’t make it to WS. NLDS game1, NLCS OPS 1.200, highest WAR 9.1 in NL.

Using on pace average to defend your nonsensical take already tells me you don’t know baseball.
@nunzi833 күн бұрын
@ you obviously didn’t read my full comment. I said I liked what Nick was saying. Said I don’t think Jose should of won. Didn’t say Ohtani wasn’t deserving. Ppl use on pace numbers all the time in baseball. Shortened seasons due to amount of games played or player injuries. The “what if convo” besides being fun is used often and in many scenarios
