I did both - diving when it was horizontal and the bow when it was vertical -although I used bomb arrows (because they shatter things) and thought I was being clever. Never even considered you could shatter ice with normal arrows.

The trek to the wind temple included an organic tutorial for diving through ice. So that was how I beat it.

For anyone who's new to Zelda or just didn't already know, the spin attack from the ganon fight can be done without charging by doing a quick circle with your joystick and attacking. It's in every 3d zelda game and most 2d ones as well.

Another unique thing about Ganondorf's "gloom" attacks is that if you let it hit a weapon that isn't the Master Sword said weapon will instantly break regardless of how much durability it has remaining, as well as whether its a pristine version or not.

The game does not end when you beat Gannon. In fact, some things are only unlocked *after* you do. (Not much though - some compendium photos, I think the percentage indicator, maybe some other stuff).

Attaching a wing, balloon, or hover stone to Mineru's back allows her to glide. If Riju is recharging, just use an elemental fused arrow for Queen Gibdo Marbled Gohma has a mouth. Don't ask why I decided to check. Attaching a rocket to Mineru's arm will turn the rocket into a missile when you use the fused arm Battle Taluses sit down instead of slamming their 'head' on the ground in a crit hit Strengthened sage's avatars take on a yellowish tint. This is most noticable with Mineru When in battle, Sages returning to Link's hand will deal a small amount of damage to any enemy in the way Gloom spawn can't be logged in the compendium

You can use the snapshot of the Phantom to locate where they are in the mazes in case you found your first one there and were absolutely startled by it. That way you know to get away from his area. But since he can and will spawn without warning in the overworld in some places you won't always have time to prepare because they usually spawn when you least expect it. One time I screamed real loud, because he came at me from out of nowhere when I landed near Mt. Lanayru and then he destroyed my Glider.

The amount of people I’ve seen using arrows on Colgera was shocking to me. The game literally prepares you by teaching you how to break ice by diving through it on the way up to the wind temple.

I honestly think it is better to use a Duplex bow from the bottom of Colgera during bullet time. It has increased shot distance and breaks the ice and damages Colgera at the same time.

I personally assumed that I'd take damage from it, there were many instances where diving through ice caused fall damage in the open world, so I didn't try it in the boas fight. It was only when I watched my roommate playing that I realized it was possible

#26 I like how they didn’t just used this as an excuse to lower your hearts count at the beginning of the game. They also incorporated into the game play as well, making it as one of Ganondorf’s attack

i was a little annoyed the master sword was ~bathed in sacred light~ for at least tens of thousands of years and still did 30 base damage but seeing the difference with the gloom is really cool. i think that one was my favourite! i also really liked some of the other combat ones - like the muddlebud being good for lynels and watching the captain constructs' eyes

Sacred light is inferior to Sheikah magic then. The 7 Sword Monks held onto the Master Sword for a few dozen challenge rooms, which is a few hours, not thousands of years, and still doubled its power. This game has the strengthened version only do 45.

Was a little surprised a lot less people knew about 22 than expected. I figured out you could dive through ice over the ship sails to avoid damage landing on the ice normal, and the diving attack made colgera easily the most unique fight in the game

It's clear why Nintendo wanted to meticulously watch over the Age of Calamity story - for the Champion successors: They got pulled into Terrako's newly constructed timeline by Terrako itself, fought and trained, saved the Champions and Hyrule, and got returned to the BotW timeline with better fighting ability ready for TotK. It was all just a set-up to explain their new prowess.

If you auto build two fused treasure chests and bringing them out in front of a lynel will basically lock them into roaring over and over. Super helpful

@@twentyarms so find any two random chests, fuse them together, save it to autobuild. Next time you see a lynel, build the two chests out of zonaite. The lynel will literally just try to roar and make it disappear, but the chests won't go anywhere and he'll be stuck while you defeat him.

Another cool detail is the relationship between the overworld, Sky, and Depths. Obviously, when you unlock a tower, it unlocks the map for both the overworld and the sky, but for the Depths, all of the Lighroots correspond to a Shrine in the overworld, so you can use Shrines to find Lightroots, and vice versa.

In case you haven’t already mentioned this, if you go into the hideout with the yiga outfit and drop mighty bananas in front of footsoliders or blademasters, a little speech bubble will show them having a hard time resisting the temptation to take the banana.

so glad to see that you are calling attention to Link's subtle animations when he's near a frog (canonically Link hates the way frogs swim with their disproportionately long legs) and he flips them off with whichever hand is closer to the disgusting amphibious freak. But did you know that Link loves salamanders? The MsgNotFound technically can crit. While it has infinite durability, if you transfer durability and an attack up +10 from another weapon with 1 durability left the Msg will crit with every hit. As an extra bonus, if you fuse a Hylian Shield to it you technically get a sword/shield combo with infinite durability and reasonable damage.

So for the original Master Sword (Referred to as MsgNotFound by the game) it's only worse than the actual Master Sword if you don't do anything further with it. The weapon does not lose any durability which can lead to shenanigans. Using Weapon State Transfer, you can transfer the fusion, modifier and durability all from one weapon to another. If you transfer a savage lynel saber horn (55 fuse damage), 1 durability and Attack +10 modifier, you get a 1 durability MsgNotFound with 95 attack. All weapons deal a crit for double damage on their last hit. Since Msg never loses durability, having 1 means that it will always be on its "last hit", bringing its actual damage to 190 with infinite durability which is far better than what the actual Master Sword can produce.

Actually, you don't really need to transfer the fusion item: you can fuse it later. In fact, the 1 durability status will never go up. I changed the fused item all the time ... until I realized I could have just it duplicated and keep multiple copies with different attachments.

3:20 Just noticed this steering ability when going up waterfalls yesterday! I was doing a korok puzzle where you trigger a ring from a korok leaf stump and the light ring is up on top of the waterfall. I was like, "Great, I'm going to end up going up the middle and then miss it." but nope, I found I could go left a bit where it was before I reached the top! Maybe this is the reason they added steering?

Did you know that if you listen closely, you can hear the gorons hum when working. Whats interesting is that there is a night varient where there is a more rough singing. This was also present in Breath of the Wild

When you strike a dragon to obtain a material, it will become visibly dimmer, but if you stand on it long enough (either one full day since last hit, or at 9:00am the next day) you can see them charge back up similar to elemental weapons.
