Dan, just to share knowledge. I have a 2011 Duramax, same DEF setup on a smaller scale. Here is how the DEF fluid and the SCR ( Selective Catalytic Reduction ) function. There are two NOX sensors in conjunction with the SCR. The first NOX sensor is located before the SCR. The second one is after the SCR. Now on my little truck the second NOX sensor should read 10% or less of what the first sensor is reading, if it don’t you get the low quality DEF warning. On my little truck I have 200 miles then I’m in limp mode once I get the warning, not good 700 miles from the house with the RV behind me. I put up with way too many of these codes because people that thought they knew what they were doing did not. So I learned the hard way, in fact I now have a scanner with me so if happens I can tell them what to do, but since it was done the last time by someone that knew what they were doing I’ve been good since fall of 2015. Merry Christmas and be safe!

I bought my truck used also. Put $9000 into it rebuilding the whole after treatment system by the time it was all done. Kittanning Volvo in SC finally got me straight. The leading diagnostic mechanic for the state of SC works at that dealer just a little plug if anyone is having after treatment issues. Got me fixed up and have not been back to the dealer sense
@fun2drive1075 жыл бұрын
Dan that code makes sense. DEF which is just NH3 mixes with the NO2 and the result is N2 and water (H20). So guessing that either the nozzle was plugged some or not working or the pump was not working, something like that. As always appreciate your vids and thanks for the one back a ways that you described the equipment you use to capture and post your vids...

Why pay for haircuts??? I bought a FLOWBEE hair cutting system back in 1994. It cost just under $100 and the first time I used it, I thought it was the best hair cut of my life. My kids all grew up getting flowbee hair cuts as well. Do yourself a favor and buy a Flowbee...I'm sure there are KZbin videos on it, although I haven't looked for any. Best product I ever bought from a $$$ standpoint.

I'll be damn, same exact thing happened to me with mine and it did derate down to 55mph, I have a dd15 so I hit a off ramp and crossed to the on ramp and did a forced regen but red light went off and amber light stayed on then had full power, my code also bad def fluid and I delivered and eased it home and 1hr before I dropped my wagon and went home my amber light went off and have no codes lol, kinda weird

Hi Hope that ur Xmas was great. This is the first time that i seen your dog withyou. What type is it? That def is crap, they wanted to do that with our marine engines, but most owners told em that we won't buy your engines so they decided to exclude the marine side, and that those engines give off way too much heat for a boat. Really glad that we don't have to deal with that. My brother still does. He hates it. Just another cost

there are a lot of youtube videos regarding the DPF system on your rig. i have a bad feeling about that sensor you bought. 99% of the time, it is simply accumulated moisture on the manifold and the mechanic simply cleans it out. when you have idle time. watch some youtubes regarding this and learn how it all works and the common "break-downs" for the system. i am not saying you bought headlight fluid or anything like that, i am just saying that the DPF system is a cash cow for truck shops. also, did you get a core charge for the "new" sensor or credit for the old one ?
