The two infected that were laying in the road towards the end were dying from starvation. Remember, theses are not people who have died and come back to life. They’re regular people who have been infected. Eventually they’ll all die from starvation because they are not eating people, they’re just killing them.

Absolutely, the regular humans are the monsters. That's the point. Also, the comparison between the rape gang of soldiers (monsters), and Jim when he decides he's had enough. After he goes over the wall, he taps into the savagery of the infected while retaining the mental faculties of a human. A combination which can be truly horrifying.

13:43 It makes sense that Jim can't run well early on and is having issues breathing. When you have a medical procedure with certain anesthetics, you need to work on your lungs afterwards, and they'll do that during recovery. Since Jim hasn't been through recovery, he still most likely had some of the anesthesia in his lungs. I've had an open liver biopsy and with that, I had to do some breathing treatments afterwards to clear my lungs. Plus, you're really fatigued easily and often after surgery or any medical procedures. Most likely Jim had been moved to recovery during the beginning of the zombie's taking over. Which would explain why he was naked and left in a room.

28 days later is not really a zombie movie, as the infected are not dead. They are living breathing people who are infected with a virus trapping them in a permanent state of murderous rage. They are so consumed by rage that they do not eat or drink, and eventually starve to death. Also, due to government regulation, it is very difficult for a civilian to own a gun in the UK. Civilian arms simply doesn’t form part of UK society. Awesome reaction, really enjoy your videos 👍👍👍

Technically this movie and its sequel 28 weeks later is not about Zombies, Zombies are revived corpses. The characters throughout refer to them as infected. Same with The Last Of Us, no Zombies in that just people infected with a mutated Cordyceps fungus. Cordyceps exists in real life but thankfully it has not mutated to infect Humans, it's a threat to insects though.

At the end of the movie, you see the zombies are slowly starving to death, because this version of zombies aren't really undead, they're living people with an infection that makes them super aggressive and crave human flesh exclusively as food. I remember it being based on some existing insect parasites that take over the insect's regular brain function and make them act suicidally?

There is no scientific precedence whatsoever for metabolic activity in dead cells. In the absence of working metabolism, individual cells can't perform the organic processes necessary to function, such as the flexion and extension of muscles or the firing of neurons. Because dead cells are completely inactive, and are in fact disintegrating on a molecular level, the autonomous reanimation of a corpse is quite literally a physical impossibility. That's what I like about 28 Days--the "zombies" are living people infected with a virus, which is a great deal closer to the realm of possibility.
@Cyber_Samurai20
@Cyber_Samurai20 7 ай бұрын
Honestly a supernatural explanation for the re-animated types of zombies works far better than a virus. Cause if you think about it long enough it kinda falls apart. Like "Wait these corpses are rotting and fragile how are they moving?". Plus if it's supernatural, it could have far darker implications then say a virus. It could be God punishing man for the sins. It could also be a secret cult that dabbled in powers they didn't understand and opened the gates of hell, thus the dead became demonically possessed corpse puppets that want to feast in the souls of the living. I'm a year late, my apologies lol.

He was a loving father, first and foremost. Every decision he made was making sure his daughter had a future- get out of London, with its heavy concentration of infected to somewhere with less infected and trained military personnel. You could see him fight the virus to protect his daughter. Compared to all other transformations, his was prolonged and violent, as if whatever was left of his rational mind was fighting back. If he had know what those soldiers had planned, I bet he would have sent that whole military camp the same way as the city of Manchester

In the movie they are not zombies, they have rabies! They starve to death over time because they don't eat.

Virtual hug! This was rough one! You're a trooper. Someone correct me but I think 28 days later was the introduction to the "fast" zombie. I thought it was Dawn of the Dead but that was 2004.

I'm not sure if it's been touched on, but you mentioned that the zombies don't eat. I always wondered if they were starving by the end.

When George A. Romero started the zombie genre back in ‘68 he also started the trope of human nature during a crisis being the real danger. All 6 of his zombie movies involve a human villain. You should check out “Return of the Living Dead” (not one of Romero’s) It’s the definition of horror/comedy but nothing like Zombieland. I saw it when it premiered on HBO back in the 80s on Halloween night when I was 6 and have watched it every Halloween since.

"Send more paramedics..." It might be a comedy horror, but it's got some really great scenes.

@Baked Biehn Those are voodoo priest resurrected zombies. Totally different genre from modern flesh eating zombies.

This genre actually all began from the 1954 book “I Am Legend” by Richard Matheson. But the very first movie influence of the post apocalyptic “zombie” world was “The Last Man on Earth” with Vincent Price from 1964 which showed the potential of this genre. This is where directors like Romero saw the potential. They technically weren’t zombies (they changed them to vampires) but they moved and acted just like regular zombies and Vincent Price was the last human left. If you get a chance, check it out because it’s actually better than you think it is.

Have we not passed the gun store? This is in the UK. They don’t do guns like we do in the US. Guns are borderline non-existent to the point that police do not even regularly carry guns. Extremely strict gun laws.

You are correct, Jay. As with the best of monster movies, the creatures are not the “monsters.“ The people are.
