I bought the first DR electric splitter years ago. Always worked great. I got tired of ethanol in small engines and all the junk parts. When I quit burning wood I gave it to a friend and it's still running. I loved it because it was quiet and super reliable. The way you fabricate you should make an electric one with some nuts and friendly ergonomics. Also, you can make the ram cycle slow or fast. Hands always on the top not the sides!

I have seen them. My uncle has one for his cabin. Works good.

Nice video! The DeWalt wood splitter looks like it works well, But after seeing this Video. I'm not sure if it would last the test of time! Good work man! Look forward to the next video's to come!

Thanks! I think the splitter will last! The motor is what is going to die I think in time. Thanks for watching!

Hi goes it!? Hey we are building a home west of Cheyenne, what would you recommend for ceiling /attic insulation and wall insulation R value and your thoughts on spraying foam? Hope to hear from you 😀
@307Garage8 ай бұрын
Spray foam with a bat insulation over the spray foam everywhere in the house along with your basement or crawl space. For your ceiling, I love the look of Tongue and Groove (T&G) betel kill pine. It looks so nice when it is all done right.

@@307Garage yes I think we are doing the foam spray on! I really appreciate the input a lot, I value your opinion. I’ve done a variety of of construction for last forty plus years but nothing like you ! Any other new build tid bits for zone 4 weather or Wy in general? Hope all is going great for you, love your energy and skills! Also what’s a good source for beetle kill, when I lived in Cheyenne 2006-2011 I’d buy it from Blodorn Lumber and build tables out of it and use it for trim work….was probably a lot cheaper then.

Go with a R48 in the whole house. Go with a very high quality doors and windows. Any lumber yard can get T&G. There is about 30 different kinds of T&G. I would get prefinished. It cost a little more, But saves so much time and labor.

@@307Garage text from builder From Victoria This is for walls only; R60 is in the ceiling regardless Spray foam R27 (2" spray foam plus an R13 batt); blown in (standard) is R22 To me it looks like R 60 ceiling and a foam and bat for an R40 for walls? That’s what it looks like to me…… thank you for your time!!! Man I can’t wait to get out of here and back to open land 🤪

That is how to do it. Then for your heat source. The more off the grid the better on everything. The cost of every thing is about the same when you are starting from nothing if you plan it right.

Oh Dewalt how you let me down. I bet Milwaukee does a better job you wouldnt have that problem if it was a Milwaukee🤣❤👍
@307Garage10 ай бұрын
Lol, I feel most the problems on this could be fixed. But the motor might need to upgrade.

I think the Home Depot 27 ton is about on par with that but either way, easier than a wedge and maul

For a 28 ton rating, I feel like that splitter should have an 8 hp engine. Not 6.5 hp.

100% That motor is under sized for sure.

I'm disappointed. I expected you to have a screw bit death machine with a chevy 350 and old ford rear end. That DeWalt was designed for millennials. They always working on their knees. lol

Lol, well I do have a screw Splitter. Those things are a death trap! Lol but I do have one. It is in my pile of don't throw away for some dumb reason pile.

GOD ALMIGHTY the amount of noise that thing makes your hearing would be shot to 💩💩 by now. I still prefer the old way an Axe to grind and a great way to build strength and fitness then again that whole stack would take alot of time ti get through so I understand 🪓💪👍

Lol, I did that from age 6 to how. I'm over the work part of firewood. Lol

@@307Garage Never too old to swing an axe if you can dodge an axe you can dodge a wrench and more 🤣 Good to see your no longer scratching from the rockwool insulation that's a major win👍
