In todays video I show you the bones of installing a standalone ecu , atleast the most labor intensive part. This Datsun 280z is going to come alive and have its own character after all of this is complete. As soon as we get back ordered parts in we can hopefully fire it up!

This is super helpful as a visual example. Did you only need the crabk angle sensor? No cam agle needed? Ive been seeing conflicting information online

I did need the CAS crank angle sensor there is no cam angle sensor the way this setup works is by reading the angle of the oil pump shaft, it slips into the bottom of the CAS and the cas then reads which tooth/ the angle and degree of the motor and then transmits that to the ECU for timing control !

The ECU is from a company called Godzilla Raceworks. The turbo kit is from a company called ProTunerZ. The radiator is Mishimoto in the intercooler is from Godzilla Raceworks as well!

Great job with the videos and install. Question: Did you have an issues setting up the base timing between the motor (cas) and the ecu? Any advise there?

Thank you for the compliment! No I didn’t have much trouble setting up base timing, I lined everything up to 0degrees TDC including the spline off of the oil pump to the CAS and went into tuner studio set that position as TDC and set cranking advance to 10 degrees and at idle I believe I’m around 13 degrees advance for timing I hope this answers your question or helps at least !

Love the video man you addressed some of the things I was struggling with with the CAS where did you wire the tach wire to and also for the a/f gauge where did you wire that into? Do you splice it into the harness or is there a different place to wire it?

The tach should be wired to the negative side of the stock ignition coil set up I had a plug n play with a dedicated wire for it but my tach itself is broken.

Read somewhere that placing the intake temp sensor after the throttle body can cause issues. Don’t know if that’s true but could be worth keeping in mind.

The instructions that were given with the ecu told me to place it behind the throttle body since it was after the intercooler. But I’m not sure that everyone would be exactly the same it would probably depend on your application.

Did you have problems with ur rpm tach not working after installing this system?

Yes I did even though it had the provision for it it don’t work for the stock gauge cluster it had to be switched to an aftermarket one for it to register the signal !

It’s a T3/T4 hybrid I don’t know exactly it came with the kit when I bought it from a guy around here
