Thanks Jane. The cottage is usually let out, the last tenant has gone and some refurbishment is being carried out. I don’t know what the long term intention is for it. All the best

What a lovely start to your cruise. Beautiful weather, lovely scenery. So exciting so see the sights through your eyes. Wish we were on the water too. It's been in the 90s here in central New Jersey USA. Hot, humid and buggy! Definitely not my kind of weather.

Many thanks Stuart, being aware of the opening times of the locks is no help, as to whether there will be a queue or not! Every day is different and there's no way of knowing how many boats will turn up in either direction. Nice start to your adventures, good to see Gary as you set off. Makes such a difference when the weather is good. The scenery looked lovely throughout the whole cruise and nice to see all the boat activity and interactions. You commented on the smell in one of the Watford locks, I’ve noticed this on the river Stort, the walls of the locks are really Grimm and smell pretty bad. It was a good idea not telling us where you’re going. I’m sure I know where you were on the previous vlog but it’s quite exciting trying to guess your route

Hello Alan its been quite awhile since I wrote to you we have bee away for two weeks to the southern part of switzerland I needed a break and change of scenery so we traveled by train instead of me driving the weather wasn’t all that good it rained some part of nearly every day but it was nice for the change looking foreward to following you on your long journey its a shame Jasmin will not be with you all the way so till next time take care Anne🇨🇭

I really like the side camera. Makes a change from the usual rear middle position. Maybe worth using some cable ties to teather the camera incase it gets knocked off. We will be getting a hire boat later this year from Braunston and we'll go up the Ashby. Bye for now.... 😉♥️

Thanks for your appreciation Mark. We actually adopted metrication in 1965 but it's one heck of a mish mash. We still use miles for distances, so I find it annoying when news reports refer to kilometres. I still talk of miles per gallon, does anyone talk of miles per litre! Cheers
