I've always liked ships like the Miranda and Nebula Classes. I always felt they were a great compliment to the Constitution and Galaxy. Their aesthetics showed how close they were related and yet they were different enough to feel like they fulfilled different roles. While the overall proportions haven't been altered that much when comparing the Constellation to the Sagan, I think this is more respectful to the original than a mere reskin. It updates the ship to fit in with the modern fleet and it feels like it belongs. The grey and white with larger red highlights look great.

I love the newish design and it makes total sense the Miranda was a design both simple and Rugged and I took around a hundred years of hard use and a full scale interstellar war for starfleet to start to think it's time for successor taking what they know works and incorporating new technology is something that would make total sense for a mass produced starship of the 25th century love the lore you put into these designs.

I love the new Reliant class, its a well imagined and revised update of the "gran'pappy" Miranda class! And giving it some teeth and adequate shielding at the same time. lol But the one that really caught my eye was the Excelsior Mk II! It always was a regal design but now it is stunning and well deserved place in the role of ship of the line, IMO could easily be put in the role of flagship too! We need a Excelsior MkII story now TAS! Please?
@retluoc13 сағат бұрын
It's true... the Reliant was just a compact Constitution. Just like the Nebula was a compact Galaxy class. They were medium cruisers to be built faster than heavy cruiser. And yes, the Excelsior class was a workhouse for many decades. It was well ahead of its time.

While the connie will always be myfavorite, and the Connie II has some amazingly clean lines. I would feel pride at being posted to oneof these ships. The workhorses. The needed auxilliary craft that make the galaxy go. While Kahn disgraced the ship, she had a wonderful crew, and her cptain fought there at the bitter end in the only way he could. The Reliant Class has the charm of the miranda, and a modularity of design that keeps her mission profile highly flexible be it a second contact craft, fire support, science and survey, engineering... and a whole lot more.

I always felt a Miranda class needs deployable kamikazi shuttles which have overpowered impulse engines that ram enemy ships with shields that disrupt both hull metals and energy shields.
@TriAngulumAudioStudiosКүн бұрын
That would be a complete waste of resources and there's not a Starfleet Technology that disrupts both Shields and Hull Metals anyway! It would be no different then if you said "Ive always thought a Nuclear Bomb should convent rock in to gold...

What gets me is that there are hundreds of other ship yards across the Federation. Its like the writers forgot that and thought there was only one on Mars...
@TriAngulumAudioStudios18 сағат бұрын
There aren't hundreds of other shipyards, but you're right there ARE other shipyards! However, Utopia Planitia is Starfleet's MAIN shipyard, as well as being the Starfleet shipyard closest to Romulus! So the writers didnt forget anything, rather, they simply knew Trek better than you do thanks to doing their research!
