My introduction to "hot rods" came via my older brother's '61 Falcon - 289/271HP, 4 speed top loader, 9" rearend with 4.56 gears. What a ride!!!!

in fact, the first gen Mustang shares the same platform, The idea to skin it as a sport car was truly genius. that car is so pristine excellent video

I dropped a 250ci six cylinder from a Maverick into my '62 Falcon, originally equipped with a 170/6. My oh my, what a performance upgrade!

I love it. I think you could get a 260 v8 in those from ford, which is a good engine and would make a falcon scoot

I had a 63 Ford Falcon, all original except the tires. Paint was still original, just a little bit of rust here and there. Painted black original engine and trans...had to let tranny warm up first, because it will not move if cold. How i really missed that car. I wanted to drop a 302 with a c4 but ended selling it, i really regret it

It sounds nice! I had a 63 Falcon station into which a buddy had installed the whole drivetrain and suspension off a 64 Falcon with a 260. I installed an RV cam, 289 heads, Streetmaster intake and a 390 CFM Holley 8007. Not a fast car with the two speed auto, but ran pretty well. Joe

A Rare car indeed if it came from the Factory with 289 Ford v8. It looks Stock as white bread but the up grades you listed would make this car a Sleeper.

The 289 wasn't produced until 1965. The first year Falcon with a V-8 was in 1963 and it was the smaller bore 260.

Brings me sadness when remembering my 63 Falcon that I rescued from a junkyard for 100 dollars. It got a repaint and upholstry. I drove it with the stock six and auto trans for a while, in anticipation of a 351 Cleveland swap. Unfortunately I wrecked it before I could perform the swap.

That was a sleeper back in the day. People would do that a lot. I had a buddy that stuffed a 302 in a Pinto station wagon. It was brown with the fake wood trim. It was also scary fast.

Nice car, a factory paint color, black wall tires, and a turned down hidden exhaust system, and it'd be really nice.

Great looking little Falcon I'm wondering why they didn"t convert it to a dual master for safety reasons as nice as it is 66 fair lane manual drum master would work perfect.but maybe that's a next owner project. Anyway that's a small thing but a good cheap up grade.

Single master cylinder. Wouldn’t a two cavity split master cylinder be a safer brake option.

In 62 Fairlane could get the new Winsor 221v8 or 260 v8..In 63 they increased to 289 was available in Fairlanes only and Falcons had the 260 as their first v8 in 63..In 64 the 289 was used in Falcons, Fairlanes, Galaxies, and maybe pickups ..
