Breakfast gets a 5 out of ten for me - 1 point for beans in a bloody kids tea cup . -1 point for the grass cuttings in the tomato -1 point for the service charge ( ridiculous) -1 point for having the cheek to call that a big breakfast ( in Scotland that's a starter) -1 for the cost of it Scotland has the best breakfasts closely followed by Nottingham

I was in London in a hotel at Elephant and Castle. The lady wanting me to absorb an English Breakfast was surprised I did not want that. Beans, tomatoes, sausages, black pudding and the works. That does not work for me at all. I love a Deutsches Reichhaltiges Frühstück. 10 sorts of bread, cheese, yoghurt, cereals, some scrambled eggs, an assortment of cold cuts, orange juice, coffee as coffee should be and some marmalades to start with. Could even be English marmalades. Or a Turkish breakfast, with up to15 items. I had some of those breakfasts in Izmir and Guzelçamli. Beating any English breakfast any time.

My main complaint would've been, only 1 sausage!, and no black pud (which i know you don't like), seemed a bit mean. Re hash browns, not really part of a F.E. They've crept in and if i get one i'll eat it, but if i didn't, it wouldn't bother me.
@supersonicsid59303 жыл бұрын
Hash browns are an added ingredient from the US thats made its way to the full English breakfast. Before they appeared it was always bubble & squeak. That will always be my preference but I still would be happy with hash browns. Heinz backed beans every time, daddy’s source and black pudding is an option. Always a a strong cup of Tea never coffee. Way to expensive in my opinion but it is London and rent comes at a premium.
@mjt81993 жыл бұрын
The breakfast has evolved over the years with hash browns added and in some rare cases a beef burger patty! Just like how language evolves as different cultures start to mix in, so does the food.

I had to rewind this as I thought I was hearing things….,.::”Proper tomato, none of that tinned tomato rubbish.” At last, all you have to do now is get the fish off from laying on chips, it must make the chips lose their crunch and go soft.

£10.50!... For London, that's not bad at all Lee... Especially with them serving good quality produce. But that little pot of beans!... come on Greens, put a proper dollop of beans on the plate. Even if the price has to increase slightly from £10.50 to £11.00... It's called a "Big Breakfast" not a Skimpy Breakfast... By the way Lee, that was a very nice touch with the camera position, in placing it under the shops awning... Did you use a Gorillapod?, or something similar?. My only problem with it... is that 12.5% service charge... it has to stop... It's spreading faster than Covid. We need to kill it off... and quick!. All the best guys, keep up the good work. Cheers Lee. 🍺

A full English should have rind on streaky bacon, fat is where the flavour is. Fried bread went on a Sunday breakfast to use up the stale bread (no bread on a weekday breakfast) Amazing how a staple has morphed into something totally different, it used to be bacon, sausage, egg and fried up left over veg/tomato/mushrooms. Still even the modern English is better for you than a bowl full of grains.

Another great review mate. I’m going to give this a 7/10. I always deduct a point for these ridiculous service charges regardless of establishment as I’m dead against them on principle. Seemed overpriced for what was on the plate as I always think black pudding and fried bread should come as standard on a fried breakfast but I know you don’t like black pudding so that’s fair enough. I’m the same with mushrooms, I can’t stand them so always ask to take them off and replace with something else. The sausage, bacon, egg and hash brown looked good. I prefer tinned tomatoes myself. But all in all it did look nice👍
