In 2008, a group of disaffected Anglicans met in Jerusalem for the Global Anglican Futures Conference, or Gafcon. It set up the Fellowship of Confessing Anglicans (GFA), an international grouping of churches, clergy and laity - some still within the Anglican Communion and others that had left or who had never been in an Anglican Communion church. In 2017, the FCA rebranded itself as Gafcon - in part to reduce the number of separate corporate identities that the same group of people were operating under.
In April 2012, the FCA, as it then was, met for a week-long conference in south London. I went along to report for BBC Radio Four’s Sunday Programme.
