i also love Willa Cather - I've read My Antonia and O Pioneer. I plan to buy Wildfire at midnight by Mary Stewart - my first of her book. I plan to read David Copperfield and Rebecca. However i read a lot of historical mysteries.

I just wanted to let you know as so you're not disappointed. Daughter of Time is not about finding his grave. It's about the detective proving Richard did not kill the princes in the tower. It is an excellent book. The book about his grave is The Lost King. I hope that helps.

The Daughter of Time is a favorite of mine. I read the L.M.Montgomery Anne series as a teenager. That was decades ago. I want to go back and read them again. For the past 4 months I’ve been reading Victorian literature. I really enjoyed The Woman in White, The Moonstone and Vanity Fair.I haven’t read David Copperfield again decades ago. Such a wide variety of choices! I want to read something by Charles Dickens next year too. I own both Great Expectations and David Copperfield, but the only book I've read by him so far is A Christmas Carol. I loved The Hunchback of Notre Dame! I hope you do enjoy your re-read of it! Fahrenheit 451 was really good, but my sister-in-law has mentioned an epilogue that I don't remember being in the copy I read, so I need to re-read that one. And, schedule permitting, I would be up for buddy reading any of these with you.

I read parts of the Metamorphosis (not this specific translation though) and The Histories by Herodotus when I was in college and loved them! I have always meant to get around to finishing them, but I never have. I also had to read The Golden Ass in college too, but I dnf'd it. I can't remember specifics because it's been so long, but I think I disagreed with some of the content in it. I also loved The Daughter of Time and David Copperfield when I read them last year. You're in for a treat! The Hunchback of Notre Dame and some Pushkin (I'm not sure what yet) are on my TBR for this year. I would love to possibly buddy read The Hunchback of Notre Dame with you.

@novelideea yes, very true! Up to that point in my reading journey, I'd only read parts of Latin and Greek texts, or I'd read sanitized versions of the mythology by the d'Aulaires and Edith Hamilton, so I think I just wasn't expecting it. 😅

Ahhhh The Chosen!! I loved it!! Two boys of different Jewish sects meet and become friends even tho their fathers think they shouldn't be friends due to the religious differences. It's amazing!!

Constance Fennimore Woolson was the great niece of Fennimore Cooper. I started reading her novel 'Anne', the quality of the writing was lovely, some of the race ideology is of its time, I intend to pick it up again. I have the Penguin and the Oxford World Classics 'Metamorphoses' I prefer the OWC's by Melville, the language style is more metaphorical.
