My Corydoras Equos arrived yesterday and they’re doing great. Nice job, I’ll only be buying from you now so I don’t have to deal with diseases when purchased somewhere else.

The dusky millions fish looks so similar to the Gambusias. I was always curious to see if these fish could hybridize with guppies but there seems to be an overwhelming amount of evidence to suggest they can’t.

1:19 I think with more popular fish, specially ones that are mass produced in farms, come healthier if they are from a breeder. Pandas especially since they are overbred, I would trust a breeder over a farm produced fish since the breeder manages their breeding stock better.
@kenjiro26764 ай бұрын
9:22 people should breed the wild form with the golden form, as a way to outcross the golden wonder killifish and widen the gene pool. It would help make the golden line stronger too, making them more resistant to disease and improving growth rates.

Hobbyist breeders are our favorite source for fish. They are usually nice and healthy.

As always great selection. I was most intrigued by the native form of Wonder Killifish. We currently have 3 pairs of Golden Wonders plus some fry we are growing out. As the old saying goes "I like the cut of their jib" when it comes to the native form.

Would the dwarf redtail eels do well in a 40 breeder, or is that too small long-term?

They should be fine in a 40

What's the yellow and black live bearer you have in the picture at he start?
@DansFish4 ай бұрын
I believe you are referring to the Dusky Millions Fish (Phalloceros caudimaculatus). Here's a link to them on our website: dansfish.com/product.detail/6231/Dusky-Millions-Fish-'Reticulatus'-Pair-(1M1F)-(Phalloceros-caudimaculatus)

Love you guys for your ethics and info. I can’t wrap my head around fish like black chin livebearers and how they can be viable to sell. The demand must be so small. You guys have quite a few of these rarer, unique, but visually unremarkable fish. What keeps you investing in those rather than sticking to the more flashy and sellable fish?
@DansFish4 ай бұрын
Most folks start with the flashy stuff, but some of those eventually develop an interest in the wild-type livebearers. I'm one of those. So far, we've always sold enough of them to justify me bringing them in for me :)

When the blue flame apistos available?
@DansFish4 ай бұрын
They are hard to keep in stock. There is only one place I know of that breeds these, so there are a limited number. And, since they are so beautiful, demand always outstrips supply. We hope to have more available soon. Maybe someone in the USA will start breeding them and they will become more available *wink, wink, nudge, nudge*

Wish I knew more about keeping south american killifish. Are they able to live in a south american biotype? Can I keep them with tetra, Apistogramma, or discus?
@DansFish4 ай бұрын
Some species can be housed with other peaceful fish of an appropriate size provided that they don't get out competed for food. Also, the tank should have limited water movement...they are not strong swimmers and don't fare well if they have to combat current. And they jump, so a tight fitting lid is a must. Provided the above is kept in mind, I think they can be kept with other fish.

I can't figure you out Dan. You are too good to be true.. very nice upfront and have a eye for top quality. Don't see many well rounded people that in the fish hobby anymore. It's all about money.

When the bleeding heart platy was developed in Hawaii, that was the name the breeder gave to its and it is known in livebearer world . Hopefully, the koi sanke swords get larger than the ones I was able to source. Common problem with swords, said to come from machine sourcing at farms. Also if your male lyretail swords aren't King Lyretails , males will be sterile and unable to breed. You do a great job with livebearer but your prices are out of mÿ range There are good livebearer breeders in US, like the guy you visited with the X. Montezumae
@DansFish4 ай бұрын
Most of these Koi Sanke are nice and full bodies---the breeder selects late-developing males for their broodstock, so they generally grow nice and big.

Don’t understand sourcing the best fish you pay a lot for a “must medicate to get them right”. Why buy sick fish and say the are more expensive.
