Flying with a carry-on? Watch this: bit.ly/NoOverheadForBag

The Transportation Security Administration created a list of items you Cannot Bring in Carryon Bag for airplane travel. Subscribers ask me all the time what is allowed on the airplane when you #travel. So this video includes 29 items you should not pack in the carryon suitcase that will go through the scanner with you and into the terminal and above your head on the airplane. When I say carryon bags, I am talking about the personal items bag that will go under your airplane seat (backpack, purse, duffel bag) and the one that will go above your head (overhead bins) inside the airplane. This video is about 29 things you cannot bring in those carryon bags.
Bug spray - The grocery stores make it look like you can can bring bug spray because they create cans that are less than 3.4 ounces. But the cans of liquid bug spray are not allowed. We use and recommend this Sunsect bug repellent and sunscreen lotion. It’s small enough and isn’t a spray liquid.
CORRECTIONS:
**Alcohol can go in checked or #carryon bags. I was reading a wrong list.
***Lithium batteries are different nowadays so check with tsa.gov or your airline.
Tell the #TSA officer if you have diabetes and that you have the insulin with you. Insulin should be pulled out and placed in the gray bins going through security.

This could have been updated in the past couple years but I was just on TSA website and it actually shows you can bring a lightsaber in both carry on and checked bags. I laughed so hard as it gives an explanation and says "May the force be with you" at the end.

Correction. Aruba allows you to bring alcohol into the country. "Aruba Customs regulations allow incoming visitors to bring articles for personal use. Persons 19 and over can also bring in 2.25 liters of wine, 3 liters of beer, or 1 liter of liquor". I brought two bottles of our own Gin with us to Aruba. We packed it in our checked-in bags.

Thank you for this video! I have a question, can i bring a bug repellent that comes in a stick-form? Am I supposed to put it with the other liquids in the transparent bag that I have to show at the security check line?
@sarahbrown7354
@sarahbrown7354 4 жыл бұрын
TSA website states that bug repellent can be a carry on item under 3.4 ounces as long as it is not aerosol. Lithium battery portable chargers are fine as long as they are under 100 WH (Watt Hours). SN: The Away suitcases original design has been updated and now the battery just pops out when you eject it.

Excellent video, thanks. Years ago I used to fly regularly between Stavanger in Norway and London Heathrow. At Stavanger in the checkin there was a sign in Norwegian which roughly translated as: FISH. Do not put fish in checked baggage as if there is a delay it can cause corrosion of the airframe and a terrible smell in the hold.

Laurie, when I travel to certain places in Europe, I find that often hotel linen does not include a washcloth. I like to, especially if I'm moving around and staying in lots of different places, buy a pack of really thin washcloths at Dollar Tree. I use one wherever I am, then throw it away when I am leaving one hotel for another.

Since flying last year, I’ve seen a size change in the carry on luggage. I’m having trouble finding the new size requirements of 22x14x9 or linear 45”. Many of the carry ons I’m seeing in the stores, give you the inside packing dimensions, not the outside measurements (to include wheels and handle), which is what they go by...correct? How strict are the airlines being with their size requirements?
@TravelTipsbyLaurie
@TravelTipsbyLaurie 5 жыл бұрын
It depends on the agent. If it's carryon size, you can get it through security. But know that the gate agent may tell you it's too large, and then they would check it right there and put it in the belly of the plane. Hope that helps, or call your airline. Thanks for watching!

Lithium batteries are allowed onboard as carry on baggage as long as they meet the following criteria: 1. a. Spare Batteries with a watt hour (wh) rating under 100wh can be brought on board in unlimited quantities. b. Maximum of 2 indivually protected spare batteries over 100wh up to 160wh are allowed pending approval by airline gate agents. 2. Batteries must be protected against short circuits. If a metal object contacts the terminals on the battery it can cause a short circuit. To prevent this from happening, put a small piece of electrical tape over both the positive and negative terminals and place the battery in a plastic bag. If the original packaging the battery came in is still available, use it! If the battery is installed in a device like a camera, ensure that the device is protected from being turned on accidentally.

Since they don’t provide an outlet to charge anything, a power bank is a MUST on a long flight. Power banks below 100Wh can be carried without approval, I believe limit 2 per passenger but in carry on only. Since pretty much every power bank is lithium, you’d be up a creek if that was the rule.

Hello! Thank you so much for this video. I'm supposed to travel for the first time and on my own this summer (I'm 18) from France to the US. I was wondering how frequent is it to miss a connecting flight and how bad is it? Should I be worried? Oh and, is it bad to book self-transfer?

@@lou-salomearlandis3742 Especially during the summer it is hard to get on the next flight if you miss your connecting flight. And you may have to pay for it. Summer is usually when planes are full. Alcoholic beverages Carry On Bags: Yes (Less than 3.4oz/100 ml allowed) Checked Bags: Yes Alcoholic beverages with more than 24% but not more than 70% alcohol are limited in checked bags to 5 liters (1.3 gallons) per passenger and must be in unopened retail packaging.
