Some recommendation. 1. Keep a track of all the medicine, there are many generic medicines available that can reduce the cost of medication significantly. Not sure about Gujarat, but in Rajasthan, there are many excellent hospitals run by govt. which actually provide free of cost medicines. 2. You already mentioned, move to cheaper accommodation 3. Reconsolidating the loan is a good idea, but if the have house which they can mortgage to bank, the interest would be much lower. 4. Look for opportunities to switch to some stable job. 30% increment can change his finance dynamics. 5. Eating out and weekend spend should be completely avoided. 6. He can take his family’s health in control by setting an example himself, in case he learns about nutrition, exercise, sleep and cooking. This all can be done by initiating baby steps. Investment in a good weighing scale do help some people.

Will say i am actually worried about a big mishaps that can happen 1) Working in IT sector has a good amount of pressure. 2) Loans and it’s worry to pay and manage. 3) Health issues are their. Have seen very similar thing in family having heart attack below age of 40 because of all this pressure of money, job and health all come together. Will advice everyone who work in IT,consulting, banking, sales one of the most high pressure environment though all pay good due to that so use that money to reduce pressure in other areas like health, money and family like have seen so many below 40 or even 30 suffering from heart, diabetes and other problem like this make me realise even i am not 100% fit so working on it by cooking, sports, walks and gym very very small steps like reducing seating time like skip tv with books and walk, going to office by walk, going to gym on a constant basis and instead of having car ride or cafe with friends be replaced with treks and sport activities like badminton and other , instead of eating out start to enjoy cooking as a fun activity and not a chore. Small small steps like i started with atleast have 6k steps a day and now 9 month in this year and having 10k average step count.
