I watch most of the top sailing channels, and I have to say what you did with this boat was amazing! Most of the channels I have been watching all I see now is their videos of getting their new boat built, but you took a broken mess and made "champagne". I think both of you are great at the narrative of what you are doing, it is not the norm which makes Spirit Animal very unique. I placed my vote for the both of you and I hope you win, you deserve it. I think many of the sailing companies will be watching you, so be prepared for those sponsors to start rolling in. Not a sailor here, but i do like watching sailing channels as my son is a sailor cruiser. Spend the money when you can 3-500 bucks will get you an arborists saddle with the ability to tie into the mast and be hands free. Monkey beaver makes a good one and get an ascender for solo climbs if you think that will be helpful.

Tie a bowline knot on that harness to climb the mast and don't trust the metal clip to save you. They do break. A second halyard on you would be even better.

Raff, about that grill bracket. Instead of just tapping threads into the aluminum tubing I think it would be much more robust/durable if you would have drilled through the tubing and use pass through bolts to the other side and add nylon compression nuts. Anyway, it looks good and I hopethose tapped theads last ... because if ithey don't the grill will fall overboard for sure!

You are really dedicated. I seldom see people who work so hard to achieve their dream. I have been binch watching your Videos from the very beginning. Shoutout from Berlin (Germany) and keep the good work and spirit up. You guys deserve every bit of comfort after building so hard. You guys remind me of the first Europeans who built ships without modern equipment, sailed to America and took on great hardships to build a new life in freedom. (Or so most hoped) Also since you own a homeboat now, did you ever consider taking on people or sailing some form of cargo to pay of the loan faster? I bet a lot of people would pay a fair price so you take them to the most remote places of the caribeans (that you already know + meeting some locals that you already know + partying at the coolest bars and beaches the caribeans have to offer, that you already know). That could also be a way to help finance the reconstruction of some of the places that were hit by taifun. Maybe you don't even need to take on people on the Spirit Animal. Maybe some boat owners would just like to cruise the caribeans alongside the Spirit Animal and you show them around. Or is KZbin and Patreon still your number 1 source of Income? Dont get me wrong. Do what you feel most comfortable with, but if you ever choose to find another source of income it might be easier than you think, since you already put a butload of work in building the boat and editing a KZbin series. For example, did you ever consider asking a streming service or TV provider if they would like to either buy some of your episodes (or a Film for which you just need to do a bit of reediting of the already existing material) or get a camerateam on board or have it travel alongside you so they create some new episodes, for which you could get paid an d put less work in producing because you work with a bigger team? If you really want to sail around the world and you need some money, you could ask some news companies if they want to sponsor you with a bit, and they interview you when you arrive in a port near them. Or some Companies or even private people might sponsor your journey around our big blue ball if you offer them some form of exclusive content or the possibility to meet along the journey. Well maybe you allready considered all these options and your partners and Patreons and KZbin are already covering you with enough. Anyways I wish you guys, a lot of fish and treasure and all the best for the future.

May I make a suggestion? This coming from someone who used to work on grain elevators. Wear a safety harness (one you wear during heavy seas) as well as the mutt cruncher 3000. When you get to where you want to be, wrap the lanyard around the mast several times to create a nonslip knot. Don’t rely on it for vertical support, but you will be able to lean back on it and be hands free. Slack the nutt cruncher just enough to relieve pressure. Both will prevent a fall to the deck. The weather harness won’t go past it spreaders in a fall.
