Everyone is 55.55. lately they can't get enough. One thing I learned from Lord Bragg + guests on ancient Indian sacred literature is that magic spells don't work forever: it's cyclical. The Upanishads emerged because the old magic wasn't working. New spells were needed. And in this manner, one day, the old became the new. I will go back to Ramayana, Bhagavad Gita and the Rig Vedas and listen again

The Communists in the early 1930s were following Stalin's extreme-left shift associated with forced collectivization in Russia. Trotsky rang the alarm about the Nazis, called for a fighting united front of the CP and Social Democrats, was ignored. Thus divided, the left was easy pickings for the Nazis. In 1935, Stalin shifted back to open collaboration with the Social Dems and bourgeoisie, the infamous Popular Front, which tied the working classes to polite electoralism thereafter.
