Ah! Great topic! The funny thing for me, after I read Condensed Chaos, I realize I made a servitor as a child to get through my depression. I never called him an imaginary friend even though I knew full well he was my own creation. I even wrote him letters, made a sigil (not knowing I was making a sigil) and gave him a name, etc. I was a baby chaote and never even knew it.

When I was 14 years old, I had a small ankh tattooed onto my left shoulder by an ex-Army guy. He used black India ink and a safety pin. I got the tattoo because of the ankh's meaning: eternal life. A month after receiving the tattoo my father tried to remove it by scraping the ink out with a razor blade. I writhed in pain and he threw down the blade exclaiming, "Fine, then keep it! But the nose ring has to go!" It took me almost 30 years before I realized my tattoo's sigil significance. Currently, I am blessed with great health and looking years younger than my age. At 45 years old, I don't take medications, my hair is still dark as night, and my eyesight is still 20/20. I have forgotten about the tattoo many times throughout my life. Perhaps my father's removal attempt really activated my sigil. Thank you for creating such an informative and detailed video. It was a pleasure listening to your intelligence and passion for magic.

You are the first person I have ever heard suggest a sigil is something other then a symbol on paper. So happy. My last sigil was a door size hole in my wall. Thank god I own my home. My husband didn't even bat an eye I just told him it was magic! Yup it's still there. That's how my "storm eater" comes. Didn't know it had a name. This really is a topic that deserves more attention! I am glad this vid was made. I guess to me it starts boiling down when people worry about distinction of terms. To me ~ it is all energy. I do see a distinction between sigils/logos/symbols that have taken on their own energy & purposes, and servitors/egregores/tulpas/familiars. I basically divide them into those two groups.

I find your post interesting in that you also just came up with the idea on your own so to speak as I did. I was thinking along the lines of a protective, helping friend/companion. Not something I just order around and then kill when I'm finished with it. Do you find you have more of a friend relationship with your creation. Hi Kelly-Ann ! I am so happy to have listened to this. I am a Reiki healer so I work with energy daily. I do believe that I was already a healer before I studied Reiki but whatever. My mother once told me that I come from a long line of European witches. But that is all she would tell me so I have energy powers with no fucking idea how to use them for the greater good. I do remember my mother taking me to a neighbors hospital bed and telling me to call her back! I stepped forward but I was given the sudden knowledge that it was not cool to call her back ,it was her time to move forward. So I refused to call her back or to even touch her. I was in a deep pot of crap for that one. I was to young to understand that mother was using me and I had no idea that I could do anything that all others could not do. So I have never been taught any of the things that I need to know. I am hanging on every word you say to try to play catch up as I am a crone now. Thank you

I think I already have been doing this and not understanding it. I also became incredibly aware over the past day, and watching this video of how much fear fuckery has been embedded in me around energy from family and sources over the years. I have been working with the idea of creating a guide to take me on an astral Journey to a planet I frequent/created and write about. Growing up I had an imaginary friend, called Clunk, he was a television like screen who talked. He protected me, spent time with me. On the other end of the spectrum I feel my parents made a servitor around a guy named shocko. Shocko was a man who lives inside the walls and was made of electricity, it was meant as a fear tactic to stop me from playing with wall sockets because I always wanted to poke around in them and I used to talk to electrical appliances [ weird :] then over the years he came part of my dream land, I created my vision of him and he was my friend, we became immune, I travelled to his land sometimes and him to mine. It lost its power for my parents. I haven't thought of him in eons. It is very much like creating a character for a novel and its intention and journeying with them XD

They started of as people that were a solid color of the rainbow, now each of them is an animal. eg. anger is a red bear. I love them!

Strangely I was thinking of something like this recently and I had not heard of a Servitor before. I thought it was a silly idea I had but I would give it a try. I have felt very vulnerable lately especially around my brother who has a very aggressive dominating personality. Now, I am a grown adult but I tend to be more reserved and find I can easily get run over by people who have pushy personalities. I was thinking I would try and come up with a thought of a strong protective creature or human form that I would pretend was by my side when I felt I needed extra shielding and protection. I thought that maybe by pretending this spirit was with me and by my side it would give me more strength in these situations. It is so amazing I came upon this video as I had no idea it was an actual magical thing people did. Thank you for an informative video. I couldn't imagine my servitor being dead so I would retire it to the astral realm as you said. Thanks for this video.

There is so much to unpack here. Thanks for a great video on Servitors. Servitor creation is the main way I practice magick. I have been doing it for twenty years and I still feel like I am in grammar school. As far as a power source is concerned, I empower them in the beginning. Then I expect them to have their own power source. Like Chi or sunrays or something. I mean you have to cut the umbilical cord sometime. Also I don't really believe in having funerals for servitors. Any more than I would have a funeral for a coffee maker. Anyhoo, I hope this will not be your last video on servitors. I look forward to more.

Thanks for doing a video about servitors. I've actually shied away from creating character type thought forms because of reading/hearing over and over again about them needing to have a life span and not wanting to take the responsibility of 'killing' them onto my own shoulders. It just seems mean. The idea you speak of where they are put into retirement in a nice place on the astral is one that is definitely more attractive and humane.

I've come at this sort of thing from a different direction: an interest in depth psychology, dream work and the Active Imagination that Carl Jung did. Of course, he was interested in alchemy and magic.

this topic oddly reminds me of my Tulpas which are similar to what you described. except that my Tulpas are completely independent people. I have 3 and they have no purpose except to be themselves. and it takes a lot longer to make them then the beings you were describing. mine are all roughly 5 years old and are just now becoming independent in thought and emotion. the only thing that remotely makes me think of magic with them is I see them as parts of my own soul that I relinquished to make them, to give life to something new. and they have their own belief systems one is agnostic, another is Christian, not by my well. and the most resilient is pagan like me. and even she has her own gods. if any of this sounds remotely interesting I'd love to talk about this if you're interested.

It's interesting to see this talked about from an alternate interpretation. I made a tulpa to deal with symptoms of my paranoid schizophrenia and it worked so well that I stopped taking the medication that I had needed to take for years just to function. She even helped with my depression by encouraging me when I have self-loathing thoughts. It's still there, but I no longer feel completely hopeless about it. I didn't think about 'feeding' her, though I suppose I do that by paying her attention. She seems to gain energy by helping me and takes pride in being a sort of guardian to keep my psychological state stable. Not sure if you'll answer on a video this old, but I wanted to ask: What would you do if a servitor expressed that he/she was afraid of being put into retirement? Or perhaps you are careful to not let them get advanced enough to develop such fears? I ask because once my tulpa had an identity crisis about her own existence and became very fearful that I might stop needing or believing in her and she'd cease to exist because of it. Also interestingly, in spite of my strictly psychological view on tulpas, she wants me to look into the more spiritual side of things. I'm just not really sure where to start because I know there are so many ways of doing things. Maybe I'll watch more of your videos and think on it.

So, I have just started the creation process of my first actual servitor. Nobody said how much energy it would drain, DAYUM! However, in the past I have had a D&D character so "alive" in my mind that I think she is a servitor or independent thought form. And she's still around. We talk frequently.

The premise of this video was particularly intriguing dude, I've made a few in the past few months which has been quite the experience btw. Thank you so much for this video and the Chaos Magick one which I did a search for to find you as I had just started researching it. I apparently have been creating Servitors my whole life and most recently since getting back to Tarot a crap ton, not realizing what I was doing so when a Dragon showed up quite clearly I was starting to think I was insane. +Soulgazers I think that would be a great idea. My servitors function as my cabinet. And one of them is my chief of staff and operations. I think using the Major Arcana as models for your servitors would be excellent.

I don't necessarily command them though - like, I am not their master or anything, but I do call on them for direction at specific times, or they find my where I am and say, 'Heyyy, you need to go in this direction, lady!'

Really loved this video. You really seem to know what you are talking about. Been interested in servitor creation for some time. Have read a few books about it including one you mentioned. Not the chaos one the other one. Have had trouble making it all work while learning from books. The videos work much better for me. Am collecting a playlist of best servitor videos. Love the idea of having one servitor help to create sigils for other servitors. Very intrigued by this.

Brilliant video! I have one or two questions/thoughts Creating a servitor requires a lot of energy. If they are left to "retire" is there not a chance that they still feed of your energy source in some way? I know this is a weird question. I just wondered if there is a chance this could happen. Could it be possible to "recycle" all that creative energy and input into something else - so that the servitor doesn't die but is remade into something new? Sorry if that is a really stupid question!!

Have you considered using servitors as extensions of the astral body ? Also aren't there ways of programming servitors like programming computers.? Using "If" "Then" sequences. Its been a decade, brushing up on some old things but I think there is a way to make em auto in that the condition itself summons them.

One isn't creating matter with a servitor. One is directing the energy of matter by using INFORMATION...The servitor is an information packet which activated during certain conditions. An enchantment that brings forth an event when a set of conditions are met. The information would thus alter and tip the probabilistic waveform to favor the probability of a certain event. Look at the observer effect in quantum physics. Think of magick as influencing this observation, and you'll see your not violating the 2 law of thermodynamics, but rather tipping in in your favor. Now you see the world in a Newtonian fashion, I dont, nor do i quite think humankind has it all figured out. I'll paraphrase Ed Dames when i say the mind is outside of time.....

I've been tinkering on a tabletop divination system that builds sentences fairly quickly through 4096 word permutations of these simple 2x4 grids ( it all maps snugly over the I Ching ) and then embedding dozens of these little engineer sevitors who go about building syntax. heh it's fairly lucid actually. Like playing with some strange open source astral-friendly software. This video was very good brain food :)

Thanks for this great overview of an area that has long fascinated me; have you heard of Madame Alexandra David-Neel's journeys in Tibet, and her experience of creating a "tulpa" (an entity created as a thought form)? The story goes that so strong was this creationg it began to be seen by others in the camp where she lived. Sounds like a similar approach, although I think she did is an experiment to see if it was possible (she'd seen Tibetan monks using the technique) and her lack of intent for the tulpa meant that it was a bit of a loose cannon, and had to be "reabsorbed"... :D

For mine, I'm planning on 3 main categories of food: First is wax, this can be wax dripped onto it's "food bowl", burned wax near by, or [Redacted]. Second would be blood, either dripped onto the food bowl or shed by the one it's connected to. Third is directly related to what it's job is. For example, the one I plan to make first will be fed by people dreaming, by eating nightmares, and by learning from people's dreams/books. I also don't plan to have a lifespan limit for them, as I'd like mine to be able to outlive me. I also don't plan on giving them a fatal flaw, though they will be housed and bound to paper, and if the paper is destroyed then so are they.
