Just did this today took a bit over and hour and a half for 6 plugs, coils, new intake seals, and an oil change it was easier than people think. Use an 8mm, a 10mm deep because 2 bolts are stud bolts, and a 5/8 spark plugs socket look for the magnetic type way nicer. It is easier to pull the intake up and Bungie it out of your way. The intake bolts don't come out of the intake so no lost bolts. Just take your time. I also recommend anti seize on the plugs and boot grease on the coil boots you can use dielectric grease on the connectors for the coils. Just my 2 cents

Thanks! Just did this job, first time spark plug change ever. Took a couple of hours but went smooth. Video was great. I did find it easier to tip up the intake manifold and bungee it up to the hood. Gave me way better access to back plugs. $30 for plugs and $20 bucks for new intake manifold gaskets and saved a couple hundred bucks in labor. Thanks again!

Yeah just tip it up and bungee cord it to the hood. That way you don't have to take off the throttle body and coolant hose.

Not all viewers have access to compressed air, but blowing out the plug 'pit' before initially removing them will help to at least minimize any debris and 'crumbs' from entering the combustion chamber. A vacuum will do the trick almost as well in a pinch, and most folks own a vacuum if not a wet-vac.

I performed this on a friends 2006. I have no automotive training, per se. I was able to do this and change the computer in around 30-45 minutes. The key is having the correct tools beforehand. I originally attempted it without the correct tools and had to stop near the end. Once I came back with the correct tools days later, it was easy. I suggest that everyone buy good tools, like automatic wrenches, screwdrivers, etc, deep sockets and the like. Sure it’s an investment but then you never have to hire someone for the work ever again.

I've got a 2005 Loaded Ford 500 Limited with 225k miles that runs and looks like new. Meticulously maintained. Never missed and oil change. Getting ready to do this myself. No biggie. I'll take the intake right off the engine. the injectors, coil packs, PCV and maybe the Electric Throttle Body to clean them. Just a little different. A lot of vacuum hoses and such but worth it in the long run to check everything. Don't want to do it again in 6 months. Never had a problem with this car. Thanks!!

Everyone says it's a bad car or don't buy this car just because you have to do a little work. From the mechanics point of view this is a good car easy to work on spark plugs are about the hardest thing you would have to do as far as maintenance it has the alternator in the front external water pump so you don't have to take the front of the engine in the timing belt and s*** apart. Bonus. I think people are just looking for a magical car that you don't have to work on but let me tell you all cars are pieces of junk because all of them need work when you don't do anything to them for years. There's a book called the maintenance schedule and if you double the intervals in which you change your fluids you will almost never have to do this other stuff except spark plugs. knowing how to change your own oil is as important as knowing how to wipe your own butt

If you are going to take the time to replace the plugs take the little extra time and money to replace the intake gaskets and the Coil packs. Especially the coil packs if the engine has a lot of miles on it. When the spark plugs start to open up their gap (lots of mileage) it takes more voltage to jump the gap and this is hard on the coil packs.

I’m an commercial construction electrician not a mechanic so forgive me. Do the bolts on the manifold require a specific torque setting. I would replace the 3 coils on the backside and use double platinum or iridium plugs. That way you won't have to go back there again for at least 100k miles. As others said, also change the intake plenum gaskets ($10 or so for a set). Vacuum leaks are no fun to locate and fix. Otherwise a good video. Sliding the plenum back saves a little time, most other people recommend removing the whole thing.

I, personally, would never reuse the old intake and EGR gaskets. One gets down as far as he did removing the upper intake manifold; why not pull it off turn upside down and after a few wipes of the meeting surfaces just replace the old rubber gaskets without using silicone. Gaskets are cheaper than intake leaks later.

Does it only do that for a moment or is it continuous at that speed & above? If it’s short & goes away as speed increases or if you disengage the overdrive button on the shifter, might be the torque converter. That was my problem at 190k miles. Had the whole transmission rebuilt & new torque converter installed at 265k. Rest of car is great & certainly cheaper than buying another used car with someone else’s problems...

Bought mine for $1800, something small is wrong with it every 6 months or so, but she’s also at 170,000 miles. If you do basic maintenance on it, there’s no big issues. Also has taken 2 wrecks like a champ 😁🥴
