Welcome back everyone to another 2D to 3D video. I am Follygon and in this video, I am going to show you my entire digital character sculpting process from beginning to end. This time around I am working on Spider Gwen inspired by the artwork of Adrian Wilkins ‪@adrianwilkins696‬. I'll be turning this 2D concept into 3D using my software of choice ZBrush. An added challenge that I'll be doing is sculpting Spider Gwen's face. Because the original artwork doesn't include this I'll be putting my own style and spin on the character. Created here on my Cintiq graphics tablet, which lets me use a pen to control my digital clay.

I liked how much detail you put into this, but I found it a little disappointing that when you did the hex mesh on the render that you just left it flat instead of distorting it properly to her form.

Great work! I have a question, the texture of the mesh in the suit is photoshoped or you add it in Zbrush or Blender?

I think he polypaints in Zbrush then converts that into a texture map to use in blender, I think.

in ZBrush he uses polypaint which is just vertex paint so he can use it in a Blender material as the diffuse channel

i dont like how you didnt actually apply the hexagon pattern to the material (it is just added in post through a a mask) . it looks very flat. but other than that, good job!

If there’s a dot on a clean paper, people won’t let it go. My point is, the sculpture is incredible, but the static hair made it stiff as if she was posing instead of flying.
