@@stevej6991 like the 20" AUG and FAMAS that Ian loves, more velocity, and potentially little more handguard real estate for bipods, barricade stops, lights, etc. Ian and Karl seemed to complain in this video series that there wasn't enough handguard on the mdr to use on barricades. @@overboss9599 yes it is but I'd debate the merit of an oversized bullpup. If you're going 20", MY preference would be e.g. a 12-16" AR or whatever. Basically what the inrange guys keep saying. The only practical benefit of a bullpup is really in it's compactness, when you extend it you're neutralising the only benefit it has over an AR. Yes academically it has a longer barrel and increased velocity but in a real world scenario it's not a big deal. That's just my opinion.

Fascinating Bullpup set. Plenty of us are thinking 'Defense', within the perimeter of our yards; moving to acquire targets (or to not be acquired!) Will Hood hmm it could be that the switchable ejection ports was designed first but during the development process someone came up with the forward ejection but decided to keep both features since it probably didn’t add much complexity on top of that I imagine it also provide both a means to access inside the gun without having to open it up all the way and if on the field something happens to that port that prevents clean ejection well you can easily replace/remove it. What's wrong with it being for someone who just wants something different? Not everything is a minimax game where there is only one correct choice. Maybe someone has a different sized body and the mdr feels better. Maybe they like their gun to look space age. Maybe they drive a tiny car and having those extra few inches saved makes a difference. Maybe they're a gun hipster and want something other than a standard black rifle. Maybe they just like to try things that are new and cool, or maybe like the InRange guys, they like to support people who are doing serious, modern designs and trying to push the envelope. Sure, maybe from a raw economics standpoint it makes more sense to build a WWSD rifle because it's the "best" and most efficient use of resources. But there is plenty of room for other options which may not be the best or most affordable, but are interesting in other ways.
