I remember running into that issue; washers need to go onto the head BEFORE installing studs…

It's a mistake you only make once right? Speaking as someone who has been there too!

What are the torque specs for the end caps that go on the cams that hold the cam seals ???

How much degrees you tight the camshaft bolts? The head was 80 and the cams??

random question: has anyone used the oem oil sensor slot on the oilcooler oem housing for the oil accumulator line?

Question, I plan on using GE non-vvti rods in my vvti block. I plan to replace the piston rings because it had low compression. If I leave the bearings and use different rings, do I need to go through a break in procedure? This is for a NAT build.
@zazzn Жыл бұрын
sounds like you'll be doing things twice.. while you are there why wouldn't you do bearings and hone the cylinders?

it's a 2jz its strong you know :D i like it how you tread the engine. like is so fragile ^^

We treat them nice during the build, so it can be abused without issues later.

For a stock long block build with a goal of 750-800whp. Would you leave the 2jz unopen and run it or do some arp studs? The 2jz has around 44,xxx miles

Head studs are inexpensive (relatively) insurance. Head studs are a minimum.

2jz head don’t use the half moons. Must be a 1j thing l. Very clean setup brotha

Thanks for the insight! Thank you, it turned out better than expected... the powerband is WIDE

Car you guys going to post dyno videos ?
@ECUMasterUSA2 жыл бұрын
The initial dyno tune was done after hours to get our JZX ready for driftweek 5 - I can see about getting it back on the dyno though for a video

Well….Toyota clearly learned their lesson with the 7MGTE head gasket failures; hence the JZ era of head gaskets are bulletproof.
@ECUMasterUSA2 жыл бұрын
yeah if you aren't making monster power (1000+) these stock ones are great.

You put the thermostat in the wrong place. You need to put it under the rotation plate so when it gets hot it can block off the cross over pipe like it’s supposed to. If left let like it is in the video hot water will flow out the head and directly back into the water pump causing it to constantly run hot
@ECUMasterUSA2 жыл бұрын
Good to know, funny enough I don't believe in the car we ended up using the rotation plate as it wasn't needed in the final installation. But I will check
@nickblakeman21152 жыл бұрын
@@ECUMasterUSA I thought I noticed later in the video that it wasn’t on the engine. You can run no thermostat and block off the crossover pipe from the water pump to the upper water neck and it’ll warm up like stock and actually running cooler over all
@ECUMasterUSA2 жыл бұрын
It was a component that was ordered on assumption that the new turbo setup would work better with the rotation, it was a happy accident that we did not need to. At least not for now.
