When you increase the RPM of any pump without increasing the size of the ports and tubes you are running it through you increase pressure and then run the chance of cavitation where there is a drop in pressure because the liquid is being pushed off the impeller and not being moved through the ports correctly This is why so many "frankenstein" Hondas were blowing head gaskets in the 00s. VTEC water pumps are gear reduced for higher RPM where as non VTEC are not. They were spinning the pump to fast which increased pressure until it cavitates and then drops pressure. Same thing happens in oil pumps As flow increases, pressure decreases and vice versa. This is Boyle's Law of physics

Awesome video! Rebuilding my 1j bottom end after some starvation to cylinder 1 and definitely gonna get their oil pump now because I love the rev limiter a little too much hahaThanks! Hope to see you out in Abq again soon for NoCoast!

Haha good stuff, look into getting an oil pan baffle as well. It's a must if you have a front sump. I made a video on that as well!

Pretty useful video. I was curious about the modified pump.

I'm glad it cleared some things up for you!

@@LukePakula ended up doing it and now my oil pressure is too high actually. Maybe because my block has no oil squirters.
@LukePakula2 жыл бұрын
@@andyitslit oh nooo I think driftmotion does mention that on their site. I would suggest maybe removing the shim they installed off of the relief valve to bring the pressure back down. But I would contact them first and see if that's doable.

Ive never heard anyone having problems with the oem oil pump or anyone have going the race or rebuilt version..not even real street is mentioning this in theire oil pump replace video..And doing those small changes is what you could do yourself and saving some money!..But good video review about the difference!..like the other videos you do too!

I need to replace my OEM oil pump, can it be a good purchase for a daily drive? I dont think Im gonna drift with the car
@LukePakula2 жыл бұрын
New oem pumps are great for street use and for the track. You really only need to upgrade when you start reving higher and keeping the rpms up there for longer times.

Should i get a modified one if im only running 500-600whp on my 1jz vvti? I been told not to but not sure why not if the motor will run better and longer?
@LukePakula3 жыл бұрын
Modified pump means more flow and more consistent oil pressure. I don't see a reason why you shouldn't upgrade it.

@@LukePakula appreciate the quick reply and thats what i was thinking too but my friend was saying supposedly its bad because too much oil pressure and it will kill my bearings
@LukePakula3 жыл бұрын
@@pourtierbeatz7804 I would call them and verify if it's recommended for your build. It also matters how high you plan on reving the engine as well.

@@LukePakula from what i read stock rev limit is 7k and i only have single bc steel springs and retainers so im thinking 8k safe and a lil more power band
@LukePakula3 жыл бұрын
@@pourtierbeatz7804 I know people use stop pumps up to 8k rpm but with drifting and how quickly it revs and bounces off rev limiter, I feel safer with higher flowing pump.

I believe I experience this where the oil pressure was too high! And now I’ve lost oils pressure. Any returning back from this by replacing the oil pump?
