The RNG is obviously real, and the fact they don’t acknowledge it is infuriating! The most obvious cases of it are when defenders are close, smothering, or sagging off. The shot timing changes dramatically each time. Different spots on the floor also change it, and things like hop shots are nearly impossible to get 100% given there’s ten different animations that just activate randomly. A defender could be 10 feet away but the shot timing will slow or speed up dramatically sometimes. It’s literally never been this bad before. Smh…

I feel like shooting is the most frustrating thing about it. Steals are bad but the frequency of shooting is so frustrating. Last year I shot 68% had an 88 win% so I’m not a bad player this year I get on the game and one game I’m making shots consistently then the next I’m missing everything. Played a Rec game made 8/10 on 3s playing pure spot up, next game I missed 2/10 same jumpshot same boost and majority if not all of those shots were wide open (or open cause ghost contest for whatever reason) so it’s just inconsistent.

Upon release I did not hear complaints about shooting…steals yes lag yes but shooting no….I could be wrong but the timeline for complaints about shooting came after the first patch when mike wang went ahead and touch the shooting. I did not hear rumblings about shooting being hard until after that patch. I have players with 80 and 86 3pt and I have been shooting in the 50-55% range since release. As long as 2k try to please everyone they will continue to foster this divide in the community. For what is worth 2k need to be held accountable for continuously putting a sub part product…since they moved up the release from October to September the game seems more unpolished at release. It's the younger crowd who allow them to charge for everything under the sun in a video game, because they are so young, that they don't realize games used to not be this way. The truth is 2K caters to only themselves. If they truly cared about the players, they wouldn't be jumping for our wallets every second. The game will never reach the heights it did back in the day, because their gameplan is focused more on how much money they can leech from us. I’m enjoying the game for the most part now that I have a second build. The main gripes for me are: 1. LATENCY can be horrendous a lot of the time. 2. Late/help contests on layups AFTER you’ve let go of your timing in the green window-the number of times I’ve gotten a “Green” that doesn’t register is asinine. 3. Shot timing/cue inconsistency. 4. Steals are still painfully op on high steal players and has destroyed dribble variety. If you even THINK about combo-ing on an iso, within reason, it’s a TO. 5. Badge Regression is the most predatory and ridiculous thing to ever happen to 2K. 5.

I always say KZbin killed 2ks. Literally everyone watches the same videos on how to abuse the game. I get it tho KZbin helps with exposure and learning how to play the game for beginners. But it also comes with the negatives far as abusing certain builds and moves. shooting has changed way too many times this year. when the game was released I would argue shooting was perfect except for the limitless threes beyond half court needed to be patched. this was the downfall, limitless from 3 feet beyond the 3 line became useless then the patch happened which hurt a lot of people. I don't think shooting should be changed again just because people are starting to get used to it. On ball steals are still crazy but I would only buff unpluckable so its fair. Really only change I would make to the game.

#vouch... so listen.. the 2k issue is that they patch stuff in a way that caters to certain play styles. When in reality they should allow ppl to just play the game. They should focus on issue's like badge progression/regression not working properly, they should remove bad catch animations completely (it's unnecessary and pointless), latency issues, adjust passing lane steals in order to make it make sense (not a nerf but make sure players are actually making the play versus the pass gravitating to them).. basically issues that affect everyone playing the game. Not just a certain group of ppl.

Also it undermine passing on the fastbreak which is fundamental to basketball. Everyone who has played basketball on any level knows the "figure 8" drill when you run the fast break with only passing.. no dribbling. It's not possible to make clean passes up the court on this game.

The problem with shooting is simply this. Its not the community. Its not casuals, sims, pros, or any of that. Mike Wang himself said he wanted shooting to be around a certain percentage and that measures were in place to enforce that. You shooting around 70%? Next game(s) will be around will be around 25-30% to hold you around 35-40% 3 range. I have nore thoughts on this but thats all i got

In my opinion the skill gap came from the arcade like games where you could dribble half the game or like in 2k20 where hop step dunks or (contact dunks) when they started the realism aspect of things in 2k is when there started becoming less and less of a skill gap in the comp setting I’d like to say I’m a competitive player and in prior arcade like 2ks there was no way I could lose to little Timmy 334 but now in 2k24 I go and play say a 2v2 game and the ppl I’m going against can literally miss shots the whole game and somehow get sharp takeover after shooting 2/16 and not miss again I honestly believe we need to go back to the arcade like games if you want to play realistic basketball go to your nearby gym or court leave 2k alone that’s just my opinion though who am I 🤷🏽🤷🏽🤷🏽

Shooting wise I'm just gonna say my 6'8 high flyer with a 78 three I hit about 40-45% from three my 7'3 3 level threat with an 86 three is around 30-35% and I've spent more time learning that shot because I knew I'd be shooting more with him. I don't think my build is bugged but no matter my rating I just can't get above 50% on any build not even my 6'3 three point hunter with a 96 three. Stopped playing that build ever since 2k broke limitless

Trying to make our players shoot the same percentage as NBA players is stupid. Here’s why: the whole point of my career is getting your character to an overall of 99 which means you’re better than the entire NBA. That, in turn, means that whatever you’re build is good at (shooting, finishing, rebounding) should be much higher than the nba average. If they wants us to average what the nba averages, then our character should top off at 70 overall so it can be average.

Every mode should just have a casual mode and ranked mode like regular games in the industry do. Casual- Shot timing from Old 2Ks.. Ranked- Green or miss shot logic. Very simple….

Rec and park should be for the casual players the ones who have a life outside of 2k. Just like irl you go to the local rec you have casual players. Irl you have some that are far superior because the competition isnt as good and thats fine. But game play shouldn't be hard in those 2 game modes for the 5% that are super good. Let them dominate that game mode when they decide to play it. Pro am and stage should have the huge skill gap for the truly good players. There should be a place for every skill level.

That would be a simple fix. I liked the skill gap at the beginning but they went about it all wrong. Lots of casual players who can’t play all the time use meter and if they learnt their jumper and turned meter off got penalised with patches. Green window being too small and Zens/strike packs making a return has probably been the reason why patches have been so drastic. Either way the game is dry

I have my meter on full full full full full full bar green still missed and slightly early/ slightly late. From 5/5 to 2/5 shooting is not consistent. Same thing when my meter is off.

I think it also depends on your 3pt stat. I feel like a 55 3pt will have a different effect with meter off than a 95 3 pointer.

2k doesn’t care if they retain players. 2k community has dwindled year after year and they understand that they are gonna have certain player buy it every year. They just make extra purchases in the game to balance it out. Hence why there is a GP in a $70 game

Set point feels like jump push feels like set point etc I truly feels the game doesn’t know where you are shooting from and then the speed ups and slow downs are still there

There’s certain aspects of “realism” you want in a sports games but let’s be honest idc if you’re a casual or a competitive player no one enjoys something too realistic there need to be balance every 2k they balance ends up being a good 2k I don’t understand why they don’t at least try implement 20 defense with like 17 offense for example because whatever they’re trying hasn’t working for almost 5 years
