I got so excited when I saw TVXQ as 5 on the thumbnail but i felt bad that I can't hear ur actual reaction while watching their video. (But I understand, the freaking copyright) They are the only kpop group that I stan. They like started the Hallyu wave in Asia. Their live performances are better than the studio version of their songs. May I add, they are like SB19 of Korea or SB19 is like TVXQ of the Philippines 😉 May I request for u to react to their song "why did i fall in love with you" it's in Japanese language. Their harmonies in that song is so epic, specially in live, as always.

CNBLUE took Korea by STORM when they debuted. They were the fastest to win on a music show, i think only after like 10 days after their debut. Which was crazy bc they're a band and the band scene isn't so big in mainstream korea. Their leader, Jung Yong Hwa, has had creative control since day one, he wrote the song I'm A Loner and has written all/most of their songs to date. When you do a K-Band special, please watch their live performances bc they're one of the best performers in the industry.

When you say Beast is big in South Korea they’re really a huge thing! They won as Artist of the Year in Melon Music Awards back to back in 2011 and 2012. They left Cube and formed their own agency. Everytime a group left their label, people would say they can pull a “Highlight”. They actually just finished their 3-day concert today, May 22. Thank you so much for reacting to them! You did killing voice special but they were not included. If you would like to explore their discography, that would be a great start. Also, you did King of Masked Singer I think the video was not updated so Yoseob (one of Highlight’s member) was not there but he ranks 1st with most wins among all idols in the show and ranks 2nd with most wins over all. About the members who left: Yong Junhyung used to be in the group XING, and Jang Hyunseung was suposed to debut with BIGBANG and was even a part of their pre-debut show BIGBANG Documentary

Gikwang was the first to leave for newly created Cube and was technically their first artist (as he debuted a couple of weeks before 4MINUTE). Yoseop, who had been school friends with Gikwang for a while by that point, is a cutie appearance wise rather than the manly concept that was THE thing every company was looking for so couldn't even get a spot as trainee but Rain (who was kind of a founding member of Cube) asked the CEO to give him a chance.

They are one of the best kgroup ever and the first one that I stan so they will always have be on top of my lists. I remember I attended their fan meet without a sleep because I came out from work. I would love for your guys to do a deep dive into Beast/Highlight! Their discography is freaking solid and their vocals are top notch. Their main vocalist, Yang Yoseob (all the high notes in 12:30) is considered one of the best vocalist in Korea. They have a Killing Verse if you want to get a nice taste of some of their hit songs and hear some live vocals.

They are versatile musicians and play many genres such as rock, pop, ballad, jazz, reggae etc ... Beast changed their name to Highlight...as it was the name of their last "Beast" album (also tied with my favorite kpop album of all time along with Big Bang's MADE). Around Us is the company they founded after they left Cube. They wanted control of their own career after the nightmare they had with Cube. Highlight actually made a comeback like a month ago! They released a full album and their title track is called Daydream. It’s really good! They made their first comeback post-enlistment in 2021 with Not the End (which is a great song! I would absolutely love for you to react to their killing voice. They released it last year and it really showcase their skills as singers as well as their personalities. I really enjoyed this podcast! mblaq and ukiss were so underappreciated. Ukiss for one i think i admire their company because they were able to have the longevity that most groups just would dream of considering they werent successful in korea. Ukiss is one of the first groups to have a solid internationa following. It was what sustained them even with member changes. Mblaq was just,.. sad :(

Love Cut is such an amazing song with the melody and creative instrumentation. The band leader Jung Yong-hwa writes most of their music, and aside from their earliest Korean albums, all their music has been written by the members themselves.

Makes sense you wouldn't have heard about Around Us Entertainment, it's the company the BEAST/HIGHLIGHT members created to continue doing music independently. Edit: also they are the original "came from an unknown company and made it big" boysgroup before BTS and Seventeen. They've had two comebacks since finishing their military service, Not The End (2021) and Daydream (2022), both are pretty laidback songs. Their most famous title songs chart-wise are Shock (2010), Fiction (2011) and it's b-side On Rainy Days, Beautiful Night (2012), Plz Don't Be Sad (2017). Good Luck (2014) was Billboard's best kpop song of the year and won pretty much all the music shows. Shadow (2013) was best MV of the year. Their Killing Voice segment goes over a lot of their title tracks and some of their famous b-sides as well, it could be a good overview. If you like ballads I'd recommend Ribbon as well, their last comeback as BEAST when they were already 5 members. Personal favourites: I'm Sorry, Gotta Go To Work, Celebrate (no MV but there's a dance practice), Loved.

With your love of ballads and bands, I highly recommend FTisland. Live performances especially ....lead singer Lee Hongki has one of the most recognisable voices and is loved by many idols and Minhwan is such an amazing drummer. Hongki was a radio host on Kiss The Radio (which is video livestreamed) for a time before his military enlistment and there are some hilarious videos of kpop idols and their performances on his show (one of my favourites is his live duet with Seungkwan from Seventeen). They have a very long catalogue of both Korean and Japanese songs but songs I would recommend would be : Severely I Wish Take Me Now Pray Madly Wind And definitely the Japanese version of Black Chocolate. Honestly they have so much content you could do a special on just them. Really love how you are interested enough to check out the history of the Korean music scene and those artists who have paved the way for groups we see today. Have been "into" Kpop for over 10 years seeing all these great earlier groups appreciated is great.

2AM (No Good In Goodbye) - the guy on the MV is Lee Junho. The lead vocalist of the kpop group - 2PM. 2PM is also a 2nd gen kpop group. 2AM and 2PM are both from the JYP Entertainment. Aside of being an idol he is also an actor. His partner on the MV is Kim So Hyun, she's an actress. They are not a real-life couple. CNBLUE - Before they became a 3-member group. They are a 4-member group like what you watched in (Loner). The last member is Lee Jong Hyun. He is a former guitarist and lead vocalist of the group. He departed in the group after fans backlash due to the controversy he is involving. That's why they became a 3-member group and made a comeback after their completion in their mandatory military service.

fun fact: B2st’s 12:30 song is a metaphor for the hands on the clock. both hands one on 12 and one at 30 represents a couple being emotionally distant as much as they could be within their relationship. i heard a different interpretation once from junhyung that it could also mean the couple face away from each other like the hands at 12:30. i'm korean and i was fan of oneday(2am&2pm) from the debut! 2AM's leader Jo Gwon was trained in JYP for a long time. he casted from kids singer contest by JYP (with hitman Bang(bighit) who he was composer of JYP). with Wondergirls's leader Sun ye. so they were so close friend until now. i recommend you IU's Palette with 2AM! it is so good contents even for the fisrt listenters! and CNBlue got sensational hit with their debut album. when i was in middle school back then, their song was hit the country. they got first win just few day after debut. they are band group and vocalist Jung Yonghwa is an talanted composer! i think he is one of the best catchy hook maker in korean music scene. MBLAQ and BEAST debut at the same time almost. so they were like an rival position. MBLAQ Lee Jun was majored modern dance. i heard he was top student in his art high school at that time, but he choose idol singer for his career. TVXQ tonight is released in 2005 .. and you know that was before youtube so lol video realesed after 5 tvxq was gone..... Beast's contract expired and now they are Highlight. so I recommend you to watch IU's Palette with Highlight also!

Bang PD of Big Hit formerly worked at jyp. Jyp, him and an accountant started the JYP Ent. Eventually Bang PD left and started his own agency. But he still worked with jyp sometimes through writing songs. He asked jyp to let him comanage 2am in exchange of giving them great ballad songs. He needed a group to boost his agency, and 2am already have a solid start from the reality show.

2AM was at the peak of ballad groups. Everyone who knows a 2AM song whether they know it or not. And their songs are always at the top of karaoke charts. Been loving the recent boom of Korean ballads these recent years and balladeers coming back after so many years. Fun facts: Lee Changmin is one of the only idols who finished their military service BEFORE he debuted. And the guy in the video is Junho from 2PM who has a very established actor career. I would love for you all to check out more 2AM. They’re also crazy as any 2nd gen group.

Hot Blooded Men had all 7 original members of 2pm, 3 out of 4 members of 2am and the only guy that got eliminated in the show, Yoon Doo Joon, became the leader of Beast/Highlight. I f*ckin love all these groups. FNC has three bands; FT Island, CNBLUE and N.Flying. They were going to debut another one, HONEYST, they released a few songs but they disbanded before the official debut. AOA used to be a band too. CNBLUE had their first win with I'm Loner just two weeks after their debut. Even another idol from another group who debuted at the same time joked that his dad sang CNBLUE's song and not his own son's. The spanish song of U KISS is the spanish version of their song Dear My Friend.

I love CNBLUE especially during their early years. I love their live sets the most and was lucky enough to be able to attend two of their concerts. But as time passed, their sound somewhat changed though they still had a few singles that stood out. In the 2am video, the man there is Junho from 2pm

2am was one of my fave 2nd gen kpop. The opposite of 2pm. I used to watch the reality shows of 2am and 2pm and how they come about . 2am is so good live. love their harmonies! One of their group member(Seulong) has a duet with IU which is chart topper.

I’m grateful that I got into the k-pop hole of 2nd gen when I was 6 y/o although all my friends doesn’t believe me. Feeling all the nostalgic songs that I used to dance or sing along and watching the variety shows that all k-pop artist at that time are in just having fun.
