If I get more big tree service wood than I care to handle, am thinking of a 22-28 as a box wedge machine with attached conveyor. Possibly dual log lifts!
@yellowmetaldriver1460 Жыл бұрын
So I've noticed watching every eastonmade video out there & with box wedges there is a secret in not sure many have noticed. You noted sometimes that sheer off, bevel or chamfer so to speak, at the end. I see that if a round is not cut perfectly perpendicular when the push plate engages the round it wants to lift. You don't have a lot of that as you have some of the most prestine cut perpendicular pieces feeding the machine. Seems the key is to have perfect 90 cuts when bucking the rounds and the box blades will shear clean without that tail end chamfer, if that makes sense. Great vids!

Sorry I am so late with a reply but yes the straighter the cut the better

The splitter litter mess underneath the wedge is just part of the game, our 22-28 makes a hell of a mess every time we work it. The box wedge seems to make more underneath but we run the 12 way and still have a pretty good pile at your feet. Conveyor with the Eastonmade is a must have tool, it just makes wood too fast to keep up with it. We normally have 3 guys working this 22-28.

Have the same issue with my Wolfe Ridge when running the 12-way wedge. The wood piles up fast, so does the debris.

Scheib, prior to your road trip to Brads with the 12-22, check and tighten the wheel nuts and grease up the axle bearings. You might as well do this on your dump trailer as well. Great video! 🇺🇸🪵🪓🪵🪓🟠🔵

About 190 pieces of firewood in a facecord and if you average 4 pieces per stroke at 6 seconds per stroke that is a blazing 5 minutes to make a facecord. Except we know there are many other factors to get in the way of that. But still cool to think about a 5 min facecord. :)

Until you get a conveyor you could take a few 2x4s and make a tee with some angles to support the top of the tee. You could use that to help push the wood forward instead of climbing in and out a bunch. Not the best option but it’s quick if you’ve got lumber around

I would try splitting for awhile until back in the trailer there is no room for the logs to go. Get into the trailer and move that wood further back to allow it to push more in rather then flipping them as each log is split. I don’t have one and don’t know if it would be better. Just a suggestion. Looks like that is maybe what you did do after I watched more. Thing produces a lot of wood fast. A conveyor would be helpful but not necessary. It’s still splitting faster. Not everyone has to have a conveyor for their yard. Don’t keep up with the Jones’s. If everyone does the same thing then the character of your yard can be found anywhere and loses the appeal. Do what’s good for you.
