i have the ULTRAMAX 2000 and if the HYPERMAX turns out to be as good as the 2000 they will have the filter to take on the FX6, as well as holding far more media it also appears to be quieter ,with flow and wattage adjustment all in one filter. I think you have made the wright choice. I have many different filter brands running on my tanks over the years and the 2000 is by far one of the best .yes i agree AQUAEL need to step up on the after sales and the local availability of spares by the comments i have seen , but at the moment I would recommend AQUAELS present filters to anyone and would take the HYPERMAX over the FX6. Thanks Martin. Very happy with it so far. I just hope spares will be easy to get as it launches officially here. As I said in the first video I was going to get two 2000's but this was cheaper. So took a punt.

It is allready better tjan an FX6 if you don't need to empty the whole thing if you want to clean the pre filter. Imagine you have an Oscar tank that needs regular filter maintaince. You could basicly clean the prefilter any 2 weeks while you do your water change..

@@PeterKnopp-ih8ie I had no issues. I mean I pressed the grey plunger/button a few times and it filled up. Sometimes after it's been off during a water change etc. there can be a little trapped air after I turn it back on. But I just shake/move the canister from side to side and it sorts it out.

I don't know about Tetra. I was using Tetra pre-filter sponges but went back to using the Aquael ones. Re hosing just get as close to 19/25 as you can. If it's too tight put the end of the tubing in very hot/boiling water and you will prob be able to force it on. If it's a little loose use plumbers teflon tape. It's also a good idea to use metal jubilee hose clips. I use the jubilee clips anyway for peace of mind!

What size flow nozzle have you put on both yoir pipes buddy. Excellent video. And is it a good, powerful filter. I have a predator malawi tank with about 20 in a 7ft tank. I have the aquael 700 a fulval fx6 and a all pond solutions 3100. 3 external filters on that tank. Want to change the aquael 750 to the aquael ultramax 4500 because of the bio media that it can hold as explained by pondguru on KZbin. He says it's the best filter out there at the moment.

I would say it's the best going. Puts the FX6 in the shade. If you check my channel I did a one year update. If you can put up with the waffle! I'd say I prob got the first one in Ireland/UK. I added those cheap pre-filters (see video). Clean them every three weeks now. Leave the main filter alone. Slows down the flow a bit. Might be bad for the motor too. May or may not stick with it. The nozzles are the ones that came with it. The hose/tubing is 19/25. If that helps.

I have a 600l aquarium with Mbuna Cichlids and I am thinking of purchasing one of these beasts to replace an oase 850T which is just not powerful enough. I have enough width/depth space to accomodate it in the cabinet but is 62cm height space enough clearance for the hoses? Thanks :)

I'm away at the moment. But if you go to the Aquael website it gives the exact dimensions. One seller quotes 55.5 cm in height including valves. But double check on the Aquael website. You need to scroll down towards the end for the dimensions.

Overall how does this compare to the fx6. I can't quite decide which one I would like. I have had an FX6 previously and it was a good filter.

@@bagpuss6867 I would say far better. Higher adjustable flow rates, pre-filter, easy to access impeller (no screws) and two outlets and inlets for better flow. But most importantly it holds far more media.

Is this filter well supported by you local fish store.. my local is a huge supplier for Fluval so spares is not a problem but I’m curious if Aquael is covered for spare parts… I’m In England

Not yet. As it's only hitting the market here now. I hope it will as you can get spares for their previous filters like the Ultramax online. But as I said in my review Aquael (the company) are dire when it comes to customer service. I think there's a UK online dealer called Filter Spares or Aquarium Spares. Along those lines! They had lots of Aquael sponges and spare parts. If you can find them drop them an e-mail. They should know when spares will be available.

@@PeterKnopp-ih8ie You need to leave it running longer. As I said before at your own risk! I leave it for a good few seconds. Then turn off blue inputs. Wait a few seconds. Then turn off red outputs. Wait a few seconds. Then switch off filter. Trial and error to get it right.

Any issues while setting it up? Did you need to use the pump to start it up or was the motor strong enough to to pump the water by itsef?

I did use the primer the first time (as per the instructions) but it started easily. And once I set it up I switched it off a few times. And it started up again automatically once I pressed the start button. It seems very smooth so far in that regard.

@@martastaszak5500 Maybe you got a faulty unit. Are the hoses in the correct place? Red to red and blue to blue. Once you use the plunger (grey) a few times it should start to fill up. Then plug it in wait a minute or two. Then press the on switch on the unit.

Sorry to hear that. It may be faulty. You had better contact the seller. You could also try contacting Aquael directly. But I found them very hard to deal with. They ignored me! It might be easier where you are. But contact the seller first.

You said the parts were cheaply made. I own an Ultramax 2000 that I love. The only parts I don't like are the suction cups and the intake strainer. Other than that the Ultramax 2000 has been a beast and has done a hell of a job. I am friends with the President of Aquael North America and he says we will get the Hypermax 4500 here in the USA sometime late summer to early fall. I really want one but not if it is cheaply made with cheap parts. Now if it is as well as the Ultramax 2000 I will open my wallet and get one. What do you think?

I would say go for it. I just meant they seemed a little less sturdy than the tubes and brackets on say a Fluval. I'm just talking about the intake tubes etc. The main filter (the important bit) seems fine. The price is very low so I'm not expecting miracles! I would prefer them to save money on the intakes etc. rather than on the main filter. It's very early days but it has a really high (adjustable) flow rate and loads of room for media. Far more than the FX6 and only slightly less than the Eheim 1500XL. And that only has slightly more room as it has no trays.

@@awilderireland I appreciate it sir. It sounds just like the Ultramax. The Ultramax tubing is a pain in the butt to hook up. But once you get it hooked up it really does the job. My Ultramax 2000 does as good a job if not better than my fx4 that I have on a separate aquarium. Well, as soon as they are available I will look into getting one. I just didn't want to get something that was going to start leaking or not be durable. Thanks so much sir.

I know your filter choices are different than what we have in the USA. I have keeping fish for almost 50 years now. From 1 large show tank to breeding fish with thousands of gallons in various sized tanks for breeding and selling, both fresh and salt. I haven't seen this filter here and just learned about it a short time ago. The double intakes and returns can be good in a few circumstances, otherwise I don't see why this would be a plus to most buyers. The FX6 the best canister filter we have her in the USA in my opinion and I have used 98% of them. This one holds a good amount of media, not sure if it's more than an FX6 or not. Let me destroy a myth that gets repeated as gospel by many people in this hobby. More media doesn't mean more good bacteria. The amount of good bacteria is controlled by the size and quantity of fish and how and what they are fed. You can have a dump truck of media and one FX6 and let's just say a 75 gal tank with an adult pair of Oscars. That FX6 holds far more media than what is needed to support that tank if proper water changes and feeding are done correctly. An FX4 will easily hold enough media for this tank if a good media is used. I have been using BioHome media since it first came out. I no longer say this or that is the best because there are far to many variables, Best for me may be the worst for you, so use what you feel is right for you. Back to this filter, lol!!!! The two huge negatives that I see are the price and the noise? I looked the filter up and the price I saw was $459.99 without delivery costs. No way that is going to compete with the FX line of filters at that price. The second negative is the noise level heard in your video and two others that I have seen. Unless they are much quieter in person, that would be a reason to return it right away. My FX's, I currently only have 3 running, but they are all extremely quiet. I close the stand doors and I hear nothing. One other thing you mentioned was Customer Service and they not replying to 2 of your emails, HUGE RED FLAGS!!!!! What will it be like when you need a replacement part? I can visit many local stores and find FX parts, I can go online and find a dozen more all with parts in stock ready to ship. Didn't mean to babble on, this is just my opinion, if this filter is perfect for you and where you live than that is a big thumbs up and I say congrats. I have since uploaded a recent (one year plus) long term review on my channel It holds far more media than an FX6. The impeller is much easier to access for cleaning. No screw removal. And you have a pre-filter option. If that's your bag. I find it hard to see how the FX6 comes close. But we can agree to disagree of course! Re media choice that's up to you. There is a lot of unverifed claims in this space. Full cycles etc. I shall leave it there. With this filter you have the option to fill it as much or as little as you wish. Expensive media, cheap or both. The FX6 is very restrictive for a large tank. Depending on what you believe of course. Re price looking at the price now at a major UK dealer the FX6 is £305.99 the Hypermax is £379.95. Well worth the extra in my book! Just be aware there are three versions of the Hypermax... The basic, one with bluetooth, and one with WiFi and built in heaters. I'm not into gimmicks so I'm happy with the basic model. Happy filtering! Edit: Spare parts are now readily availble from dealers. I already bought o-rings to be ready if needed. Re Customer service. Agreed. But I suspect they will up their game for the US market... Time will tell.

I’m in US I own Aquael 4500 and the 2000 they both blow FX out the competition. The amount of filter media both canisters hold is unbelievable specially the 4500. Aquael 4500 is practically 2 FX6 🤣 better flow, super easy to clean. Holds way more bio media and it’s around the same price as FX6. Fluval is clearly no competition my only issue with Aquael is maintenance kits. Other than that perfect filter.

@@allstarsalmeida Don't worry the spares will come. Available in Europe now. Google the German website (just to see) called Happy Diskus. I ordered spare o rings and a impeller housing from them. They have lots of 4500 and 2000 spares. I'm sure they will arrive in the states at some stage.
