I have that same axe. I sanded the handle to remove the clear coating. I then scorched it with a torch. I sanded it again just to blend the scorching. I then applied several coatings of linseed oil. I really like my axe. Take Care and Keep Exploring The Outdoors.

Like the idea of scorching the handle. I will be getting rid of the varnish then putting the oil on. Thats next.lol. thanks for watching much appriciated.👍😉

All I know is that bar code sticker on the handle needs to be removes. It needs to be left in the rain overnight. It needs to be thrown at a tree a bunch of times. You need to hammer some nails with the back of the axe. You need to burn your logo into the handle and maybe a Squatch. After all that, clean it up and start caring for it.
