As a Canadian, I had no idea that one of my best friends growing up was American (her parents were imported by a nearby university) until one day I asked if she knew what time it was and she said, "Quarter of four." It stopped me in my tracks because I didn't get the joke. Cautiously I tried, "You mean, it's only one o'clock?" And we just stood there for a while, mutually perplexed. Good times. 😁

When I was at university, I did a work-study program helping out in the sports medicine room on campus. One day, a few sportsball players (probably football, but I don't remember) came in and were talking about how much weight they lifted at the gym. One of them was English, and he said, "I lifted [some number of] KGs". The other guy looks at him for a second, then goes, "You're in America now, we don't do KGs, we do LBs." It took everything in me not to lose my shit laughing.

Funny video.Im American and I always was curious about the Canadian reaction to the many refererances to it in the show. My favorite is when Barney goes to Toronto to help Robin and stands up on a chair to lecture the crowd at a Tim hortons. They then lock the doors with a hockey stick and give him a whooping. When they approach his table Barney says "yeah it's called a tie". Hilarious.

6:41 Actually at the same unit of measurement, it is colder on the Celsius scale than it is on the Fahrenheit scale. At least in the case that she was cooking, other than that "-40 degrees" is the same temperature both on F and C. For anything below -40 degrees C is warmer then F. So it should have been not burnt but undercooked.
@daniellysohirka5079
@daniellysohirka5079 3 жыл бұрын
Your wrong, because 400 F equals around 204.4 C, Then 400 C is equal to 752 F. But it does get colder in F after the -40 mark, but gets warmer up from there. Each Celcius is (1.8F) either way from -40.

Nerd here: The joke at 6:41 only works the other way around (if you think the oven is F but its graded in celcius). If she thought the oven was in celcius, regular cooking temps in celcius would be 80-240. None of these settings in an F graded oven would burn the food. It would just be undercooked. My guess to keep the comedy realistic is that she just messed it up and had to put that as an excuse assuming nobody would find out. If I were there I would have immediately called her out for the fun so she admits guilt but I wasn't. So to my fellow americans, think twice before turning a foreign oven to 425. (Although you should be safe, no oven has this temp in celcius anyway). The only thing at risk would be lower temp cooking stuff such as bread and cakes. Like if they bake at around 200F, 200 C would just kill 'em XD.

Ahh, bunny ears🐰...The good old days when living in Buffalo, NY meant you had extra TV channels most of the rest of America didn't have because of CBC and CNBC from Canada.

America is a hemisphere. Canadians ARE Americans. We USians have a lot of problems, but it really, really helps having such cool, sweet, kind, helpful, bushcrafty neighbors. Thank You!

i never knew how many jokes have been changed in the german dub of the series until now, since all those metric unit jokes don't work in civilized countries. xD

This show had some great jokes about Minnesota as well. I'm a Minneapolis guy myself but I always found the jokes funny. Obviously most of them not very accurate, but there were a few that were just a little too accurate.

The canadian reaction channels I watch I love... You guys seem so nice but not like portraid in shows/movies but very funny can swear just like an aussie (not as much or as many but with great comedic timing)but you guys are also as friendly and welcoming like an aussie (misunderstood/imagined very different to what we are actually like)

I may be being dumb, but I’m English so also use celsius, shouldn’t all the food be undercooked?? If you put a celsius heat on a fahrenheit oven it would be colder than expected right?? Fahrenheit numbers are higher than celsius

Personally I LOVE Canadian stereotypes. I find them hilarious, especially because most are true (Tim Hortons and Hockey for life). HOWEVER the one thing that bothers me is what people think our “accents” sound like. We. Do. NOT. Talk. Like. That. We do not say “aboot”. We don’t have a weird southern,drunk mix sounding voices. Like I hate when people talk what they think weslund like. We do say Eh sometimes tho 😂
