Pac is like the Bob Marley of Hip-Hop when you think of an artist who embodied the genre he's apart of. He didn't need features on his albums (unlike JayZ) but he had them. Pac is the most versatile rapper ever. Could make a conscious song and you feel it. He could make a song about a can of Spaghetti and it would get airplay. He wasn't technically good as some other rappers but unlike them made better music.
@Mr._X84
@Mr._X84 Жыл бұрын
The second part of your first sentence makes no sense. If he didn’t need them, why have them? A lot of rappers make songs of all type. He gets this mythical status, simply for dying at 25.

@@Mr._X84 When you listen to Tupac's tracks that have features.... with the exception of a song like: *'2 of Amerikaz Most Wanted'* where Snoop held his own.. whenever the song transitioned to the featured rapper you notice that the energy of the song drops significantly. It's very noticeable in a song like *'Bomb First'* That's one of the reasons I personally think his albums would still be good without features. The people he was featuring on his tracks just couldn't match his energy level. Yet still its all good because features create diversity even when it's weak. And I disagree with your last sentence. He gets his mythical status because he was good... as well as the drama that went with him. He popularized a sub genre of hiphop (Gangster Rap). Besides... He isn't the only rapper who died young. So that nullified your statement.

I think what made Tupac great is that Pac had a history in vocal performance from the drama and poetry classes he took, so he understood things like voice projection, modulation etcetera. He also gained cultural knowledge from those classes like art history, and probably read and studied classics in literature. He had a better understanding of culture, hence why he was able to change and influence culture in a major way.

Me, I'm originally from Florida and Rod Wave was a very popular rapper in Florida years before he hit super stardom. You have to understand the US is so large to where culturally we in the south are different slightly than people in the north. And vice versa. We don't sound the same. Don't get me wrong at have most things in common but they're are differences that also makes us distinct. When I came up Uncle Luke was the King of the south but also others. I couldn't agree more like 2pac's style was simple but it's the soul and the fly style riding the beat he put in tracks that made his music legendary. To call someone the greatest you have to start at the beginning when hip-hop was created until now and compare music catalogs with how much good music that artist had. That's why I say 2pac is the greatest,there are tons of rappers who can rap super fast but look at their overall music made.

And that "riding the beat" that there my man; Tupac even made wack beats sound good. He knew his chords. A reference even made by Eminem. You see a lot of MCs be studying Tupac till date, but most won't even admit that.

Jay Z is dang near talking on beats nowadays and y’all keep talking about Pac’s style being simple. What has Jay Z taught y’all through his music prior to 444? It was bricks and chick up until that point. I guess that’s a talent, saying the same thing a different way for 25 years; but it’s not enough to be compared to Pac.

I agree with Melle Mel to a certain extent. Rapping and flow wise Biggie and Jay-Z are better than Pac.. BUT until this this day, no rapper that came before or after, has touch my heart lyrically like Pac has. Pac had the talent to put words together that grabbed you emotionally and poetically. He was basically the rap version of Shakespeare.
