I'm here because a live-show video of Tubb randomly popped of him singing I'LL TAKE A BACK SEAT FOR YOU, then this video fortuitously popped up!🤪 What a treat. Earnest Tubb was the most authentic, craggy-faced country and western star that ever came down the pike; all others were mere shadows on the wall. The fidelity here is AWESOME! His great bands helped make Tubb what he was. Few folks like Beethoven, Rimsky Korsakov, Shostakovich, AND ERNEST TUBB. But I'm one of them! Milton Moore

Well I’m on my second go round with all your wonderful ET album’s and loving them again. That was a beautiful picture of a young Skeeter Davis all dressed up in a frilly dress. I think I missed it before. Thanks again for these great videos. Can’t even imagine how much work you put into them finding all these rare pictures. Hope you enjoyed doing the research almost as much as we enjoy looking at them. Ms. Lou , Beaumont,Texas born, but raised up in Acadian Parrish, Louisiana.

do you think Bradley was still using Karlson speakers for monitors and playback at this point in time? I bet a pair of K15 with good 15" coax would sound incredible on these ET recordings.
@2packs4sure4 жыл бұрын
I never knew or even thought about what speakers Bradley used as studio monitors but after looking at the Karlson K15's I damn sure would LOVE to hear them !!

@@2packs4sure Here's the plan for K15 published in the January 1954 issue of Radio and TV News (there's also a tube Theremin in that issue by Bob Moog). The first Karlson commercial enclosure is now known as "K15" and developed in the summter of 1951 by John Edward Karlson and Wayne Green (who did most of the promo work) - it was introduced in the fall of 1952 at the big hifi show at the Hotel New Yorker. It sounds really good with say the Altec 604 types and also the 15 invh coaxials by Eminence. The woofer imo should have low movng mass - no more than 70 grams, a fairly strong motor with Qts 0l38 or less. (the lower the qts the stronger the motor), low voice coil inductance - plus it would not hurt to have rising on-axis response as the driver is tilted back 30 degrees and fires into a variable width diffraction slot. For woofer alone, a horn could be used on top. IF the speaker can reach 2.5KHz crossover then a sloted pipe tweeter with compression tweeter can be used and sounds real good. Karlson introduced the slotted pipe tweeter along with his open end waveguide microwave antenna around 1965 with the little "X15" speaker" X15 was about 28 inches tall, 19 inches wide and 14 inches deep. Being downsised it doesn't go much below about 70Hz so would benefit from a subwoofer. K15 doesn't go real deap but its extremely adept with bowed and slapped bass fiddle, electronic bass, percussion. Its much better in my opionion than a reflex or compromised horn such as La Scala. The back panel needs bracing and the simplest brace is a strut between that panel and rear of the shelf feature. It also would help to use 3/4" dowel rod beteen the front edge of the shelf and the "wings" to reduce flexure and modulation distortion. Here's the plan - the whole issue is up at the internet archive. btw - how do you get such great transfers from vinyl? - they're amazingly good and detailed when the program allows. (guess that says something for KZbin using the OPUS codec too) i.imgur.com/oRygnBt.png

John, this question doesn't pertain to ET but you're very knowledgeable on the subject of great music. Do you know if Tex Williams was in Spade Cooley's band? I was just watching a video and I'm certain it was Tex Williams in Spade's band.I used to ask my dad these questions but I don't have my dad anymore. He was very knowledgeable like you are on the subject.
@2packs4sure4 жыл бұрын
I'm not sure of the whole history but they were connected for sure because I checked and all of Tex's recordings from late 1944 thru mid 1946 were done with Spade..
@samking734 жыл бұрын
@@2packs4sure I knew there must have been some sort of connection because I seen Tex in a couple of videos of Spade. I first noticed it when there was a trio singing and then all the sudden Tex belted out a few lines in his baritone voice. He doesn't look anything like I would have thought. But I recognized his voice immediately
