After visiting the BNSF Belen Yard - featured in Part 1 of this series - I made a stop at Turbine Rd, Belen, NM. It is located in the New Mexico desert a few miles east of the yard. Within only about one hour, 7 trains showed up. This gives an impression of how busy the BNSF Southern Transcontinental Line can be in peak periods. Enjoy the railfanning experience in this unique setting. [© 2016 MBMARS Productions. Exclusive rights for KZbin channel "mbmars01" only.]

Thank u mbmars01 for taking a visit to the Gallup Subdivision area. Its my most favorite subdivision in the country. Its beauty and colors of the Plateaus with 60 and 70 Mph trains is truly unique.

+Austin I know, I loved it. I didn't have much time when I was there and the weather was terrible, but I really hope I can return at some point.

I really appreciated you were able to include the sound of the wind in your video without it becoming ovrwhelming. So often videos from windy locations have sound track makinf it very difficult for me to continue watching. You seem to have struck the right balance giving the mood of the environment without becoming annoying.

Many thanks! I'm very conservative when it comes to manipulating video and sound. I like to present the material as authentic as possible and wind noise is part of the railfanning experience. However, there are times, when it is just too much and one has to reduce the noise level somewhat.

Thanks for sharing. Very nice work. I like the setting sun reflecting off the cars and the westbound emerging from behind the "dune". I live in the area and go down Rtes 47 and 60 to Mountainair at least once a week, crossing the tracks twice, a grade crossing at 47, about 10 miles east of Turbine Rd and a bridge over the line on 60 as they come out of Abo canyon. I can usually beat them from one to the other! It's very rare to not see some action.

You live in a nice region. These places sound all very familiar, although it's been one and a half year that I was there. Great area, great trains, great shots. I still remember it as if it was yesterday. I hope, I can return soon.

The guy with the bare tables sure gave you the horn when he finally got going across the crossing. I don't think I've heard that loud and long a horn except in Jack London Square, Oakland (downtown street running).

Enjoyed. Thanks. Did you overnight in Belen? Not much there. I stayed at the Holiday Inn Express.Trains heading towards the mountains are eastbound for Clovis, NM. Glad to see you made it out of Belen. Mostly containers and trailers. In a 24 hour period you could easily see over 100 trains on a Friday, Saturday and even on a Sunday. Madrone is the 1st Double crossover east out of Belen. Normally westbound trains would hold at Madrone waiting on an open fueling track. There are a total of 8 fueling pads at Belen. Your video Part 1 showed the westbound fueling racks, 4 tracks per direction. Approx 14 miles east of your record location BNSF starts 1.3 percent climb eastbound to Mountainair. I hope you were able to watch and record trains from Kayser to Mountainair. Eb's throttle 8 in power. Wb's in full dynamic's.

+nwfan2010 Cool, thanks for all this information. I stayed in the Oak Tree, which was much cheaper than the HI Express. Yes, I actually went up to Willard on the Clovis Sub and Laguna on the Gallup Sub. I'm still working on the videos.
