Joe, you will never. ever get bored of working on these machines. Why? Cause you service all makes and models! i do similar with cars and trucks. Rewarding!! One thing I haven't seen tho', is a simple test light. When you are looking at voltage while running, don't rev, bring the rpm up to ~1500 for 30 seconds.

Love my 2001 Rubicon. It's usually the shift position sensor or the control motor. I've only used Honda brand sensors to replace mine. I've seen people use cheap Chinese ones, but when they go out, they can cause the swash plate to slam to one side in the Hondamatic unit. SHIFT SENSOR GOING OUT. Makes it sputter in reverse when they do, heard it when you went into reverse in the yard.

Hi Joe, plant your corn in rows 12 inches apart and the plants 12 inches apart - staggered - it would like an equilateral triangle from above. This way the crops are supported in windy situations and you get a better yield overall. My brother in law from Michicgan taught me this technique and its never failed..

The water in the sensor on the Yellow one shorted to ground, that’s why your fuse blew.
@Kiltylake
@Kiltylake 7 ай бұрын
I doubt the water in the sensor caused the fuse to blow. Sensors work on lower amps and voltage and send a signal to the controller. The controller then sends battery voltage and higher amps to the motor.

Had much of the same issue but mine was stuck in 4th gear. Not even the manual shift tool from the toolbox would change to any other gear. I did a little research and learned my Rancher ES had a shifting fork (for the lack of a better word) notorious for snapping off. In fact, Honda issued a bulletin about this issue. Yeah, I had to remove one case and pull the clutch to access it. a 20 dollar part. Sure enough, it was split in half and would not rotate the shifting mechanism. I slapped a new one in. It was much beefier than the original. That was two years ago. Still working perfectly. Cheers from Louisiana.

Hi Joe, I would advise you to invest in 3 tools. A mechanics stethoscope so you can listen to where engine noises come from. A 12v battery load tester (not a multi-meter) and a borescope so you can look at pistons and cylinders while the engine is still together. Multimeter is for seeing if the charging system is working. Load tester is for checking the battery condition. Let me know if you want further info.

Use a propane torch wand that doesnt have a direct flame like the small torch attachments. This will restore faded plastic. I have seen it done on stadium seats that are plastic and they looked like brand new when they were finished and I have also used this technique and it works well just be careful you don’t burn the plastic. Always keep the flame moving of course

Seen a few other videos online of guys restoring plastics on their dirt bikes and quads. Most use a razor blade and scrape lightly scrape off the edges of the deeper scratches.Then they use lower to high grid wet sandpaper to lightly get out all the minor scratches.Then follow that with like some guys commented using a torch to bring the brightness back while finishing off with a wax and buffing wheel.

For the faded plastics try this it really works. Boiled linseed oil and you cut it with paint thinner or mineral spirits. Some people use scotchbrite pads or use several gradients of wet sanding ..then wipe on the oil mixture. It does have to dry though

You might want to try some STP Son Of A Gun! Protectant, on your yellow ATV, which claims to shine and protect vinyl, rubber, and plastic by reducing the effects of ultraviolet (sunshine). I have avoided the Hondas with the ESP as these always seem to have issues. Seems like the shift motors will go out and will need to be replaced…….and the OEM part from Honda is not cheap. And, the aftermarket ones are junk. I bet this is the shifting issues with both the Rubicons you have now.

You can usually take a heat gun to the plastics and get them to color back up at least 50% better than what you start with. As long as the plastic itself isn't degraded or crumbling, the color can be drawn back out with the heat gun. A propane torch can used as well, but you have to be extremely careful not to burn the plastic. This trick works on black abs as well as the colored plastics used on bikes, atvs, cars, trucks, pretty much any vehicle.

Good fixes Joe. As far as batteries in this stuff you can't really go by just a voltage reading. Even if it read 12.6 at no load which is basically full charge, the next step is to see if it can hold that voltage under load. People let these toys set for weeks or months and the batteries just sulfate and loose capacity and are junk after 2 years or less. Always plug them on a good smart tender when parked for more than a few days and they will last 5-7 years or more.

Good morning Joe! I've been watching your videos for over a year now, but I watch them on my television. This is the first time I've commented. My comment is about your apple trees being browsed upon by deer. I have a quick fix for this problem. Go to your barber and ask for a bag of cut hair. If you put this human hair around the base of your trees, the deer won't go near them. I realize this sounds too east, but I used to grow certain plants (which shall remain unidentified) out in the woods and along tree lines where the deer would browse. If human hair stopped the deer from destroying my plants, I should work for your apple trees. Have a great day my friend! Sarge
