Take that rear brake apart and clean and re-grease with rubber grease the slider pins, the brake will work as should then. Same for the front too.

Todd Jacobs i always look for the obvious. bike has been parked up for 6 years? they are usually parked for a reason. he’s just covered doing a compression test and leak down test. if i had the tools i would be doing this check on every bike i got hold of.

I dont know if the short shifting has to do with this. But you said you put 10w-40 in it. But since its a two stroke the cylinder gets its lubrication and oil from the pre mix. So a proper 80w gear oil is recommended for filling up the case and not 10w-40. Most all two stroke dirt bikes take an 80-85w gear oil. So maybe that will help with the shifting

Sounds like the best running machine you have purchased lately Hanging idle is to lean on the pilot jet adjust the air fuel screw to richen it up at idle ..go up 2 on the main jet for the cold weather.. cant go by the OEM specs since it has a pipe on it.

Pretty sweet bike for $500 beans. Two things: Sub-frame off for carb removal and check the dang air filter. Probably a squirrel living in there. Nice video though and have fun with that thing. Braaap!

Btw, the chrome polish won’t work well on headers because it’s formulated to polish nickel playing which is what chrome actually is and due to the high heat that a given off from the exhaust, it’ll fade pretty quickly. You can honestly use basic rubbing compound and/or metal polish and it’ll last a whole lot longer. I’ve used that stuff for years and even used it to polish rims and other metal surfaces. I mean, I know you know what you’re doing but that’s just my .02, lol.

Yeah all kawi engines are noisy, I have a kx500, kx65 and even a 99 zx7r and a 2000 ZX9R. They all rip, hardcore and are very healthy engine but very mechanical sounding. They all tick like hell. The 9R is the noisiest, but makes 192 RWHP. So yeah, a happy kawi is a noisy kawi. Lmao.

Idle hanging a little? Try richening your idle air mixture a quarter turn. Assuming you checked for the obvious, vac leaks and what not. Make sure it wasn't already screwed with, start in factory specs. Prob 2.5 out or something.

Do a leak down test and compression test. Seems like you're pulling air somewhere. Crank seals both sides should be replaced and while you're in there let's give the clutch plates and basket a look.

sweet bike bro you made a good buy looks great for a 93 but if I was you I would definintly check out that cylander and probably replace that piston cause those 125 pistons go bad after like 20 hours hard and it looks like it hasn't been changed for a long time.

Check the jets and compare the them to the stock ones. When it gets colder out the bike will also run leaner so you may need to adjust accordingly. I have a 2001 kx125 and have a pro circuit pipe on it also and if you look up pro circuit jetting for 1993 kx125 then it will give you a good starting point. Don’t forget to consider altitude also. Great find btw, 500 is a steal.

The reason the carby has green paint on it is because the frame has been painted. Also has new front fender and plastics apart from rear fender.

Looks like the rear fender and rear side panels are Maier plastics( they had that weird, darker color back then). Front fenders are rarely replaced because they aren't prone to damage. Good call on the frame paint.

Nice barn find, how’s the suspension feel for a 93. I just picked up a 2000 kx250 and got the fork seals done and got a brand new rear shock oem I don’t know what settings to have it at but she’s a little stiff for the trails. My 2017 floats over bolders no problem and my 250s a bit sketch lol.

This is how i got my first bike .i Saved $20 a week for a year =$1040 Some weeks I'd put in a little more If you can't save $20 week you can't afford to own a dirtbike. My first bike was a 2001 yz125 I got it for $700 spend $200 on new piston and rings and got a over 100 hours of riding out of it But i didn't stop saving and now i have 01 yz125, 06 kx250f and 2010 CR450f you just have to believe in yourself

Ed Dean I did something similar only I bought and sold from the time I was 11 until now at almost 17.... saved up my money when I was 11, bought a good Klx125 for $300 that needed only little work, sold tha bike for $700 after riding it for 2 years, then bought a old Yamaha rt180 2stroke for $700, sold that one for $900... lol THEN I bought a 1994 Kx125that needed fully restored for $80 lol and sold that bike for 1800 after I restored it... haha sold that bike and bought me a 2000 Chevy Silverado(the one in my profile pic)... just shows what you can do if you manage your money right

Shouldn't start a 2 stroke mx up and just leave it ticking over... There compition engines and not designed to tick over for long... Will just clog up foul plugs. Start it up... Choke on... 30secs half throttle... Choke off 5 or 6 full throttle bursts... Then go have it with it 👍... I raced for 20+ yrs and had a 93 kx 125 in 93... Gearing stock was a rear 52t... I changed mine to a 48t... Gears were longer but less bottom end... So depends where your be riding it.
